Senior Electrical EngineerLocation: Chantilly, VA Employment Type: Direct Hire Compensation: Starting at $130,000+ annually (compensation based on experience and qualifications)Position OverviewWe are seeking a licensed Senior Electrical Engineer to oversee the planning, design, and execution of complex building systems projects. This role is responsible for leading electrical engineering efforts from initial site assessments through construction support while mentoring junior team members and collaborating across multidisciplinary project teams.Projects include a combination of commercial, institutional, and government-focused facilities involving both new construction and renovation work.Primary ResponsibilitiesEngineering Leadership & Project CoordinationServe as the lead electrical engineering resource for assigned projectsManage electrical system design activities from concept development through final project deliveryCoordinate with internal engineering teams, architects, contractors, consultants, and project stakeholdersProvide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineering staffElectrical Design & Technical DevelopmentConduct site evaluations and document existing conditions for renovation and infrastructure projectsPrepare engineering studies, calculations, technical reports, and supporting documentationDesign and analyze building electrical systems, including: Lighting systems and power distributionFire alarm and life safety systemsTelecommunications and low-voltage infrastructureMedium-voltage distribution and utility coordinationUPS systems, standby power, and emergency backup systemsDevelop construction drawings, specifications, and supporting design documentationConstruction Administration & Project SupportRespond to Requests for Information (RFIs) during bidding and construction phasesReview contractor submittals and shop drawings for compliance with project intentParticipate in field observations, punch walks, and final inspectionsSupport project closeout documentation, including as-built drawing reviewsQuality Assurance & Project OversightMonitor project schedules, deliverables, and budgets to support successful project executionPerform quality control reviews of engineering deliverables and calculationsEnsure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and industry best practicesRequired QualificationsU.S. Citizenship requiredBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited programActive Professional Engineer (P.E.) licenseMinimum of 10 years of experience in electrical building systems designTechnical ExpertiseStrong working knowledge of:Lighting and power distribution systemsFire alarm and low-voltage system designMedium-voltage infrastructure and utility coordinationEmergency power and backup power systemsGrounding and electrical protection systemsSoftware proficiency with:AutoCADRevitAGI32SKMPreferred QualificationsActive Secret or Top Secret security clearanceCDT certification (Construction Specifications Institute)LEED Accredited Professional credentialRCDD certification
