Senior Elder Justice Specialist / Social WorkerThe Weinberg Center for Elder Justice offers comprehensive elder justice services throughout New York City and Westchester County. Our services include:Safe, short-term safe haven within a skilled-nursing facilityCase management, psychosocial counseling and legal services for older adultsProfessional consultation helpline and brief client support on elder justice issuesProgram development and professional trainings on elder mistreatment and trauma-informed carePosition Overview The Senior Elder Justice Specialist will carry a small caseload of clients and will provide 1:1 trauma-informed counseling, advocacy, and case management for these individuals. They will work collaboratively with the Weinberg team in developing trauma-informed plans of care and safety plans for all clients.
They will be actively advocating on behalf of clients within systems of care. The Senior Elder Justice Specialist will collaborate with the Public Health Specialist, Program Assistant and Assistant Director to complete grant reports in a timely manner.Essential Job Functions, Knowledge And SkillsIntegrate a trauma-informed, client-centered approach, using an anti-oppressive lens, into your work with clients.Conduct client centered safety assessments and safety planning suited to the individual’s needs.Develop and give trainings for professionals about all aspects of elder mistreatment and trauma-informed careProvide crisis intervention, case management, and supportive counseling for Weinberg clients.Basic understanding of computer and systems for managing case records.Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.Excellent interpersonal skills and comfort presenting information to large groups of professionalsDemonstrate the ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team including but not limited to attorneys, social workers, doctors, nurses, dieticians, etc.Proficiency in language other than English helpful but not required.QualificationsLMSW or LCSW required.Experience preferred in geriatrics, elder abuse, health care, domestic violence, and program development.CompensationAnnual Salary: $80,000–$90,000Benefits include health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and professional development opportunities.Please submit Resume with Cover Letter For more information please visit: The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Center for Elder Justice Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE)
