Senior E-Billing Lead (Multiple Offices - CA)

los angeles, ca • Posted 4 days ago
Remote Full Time Finance

Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton, a global Am Law 50 firm, has an immediate opening for a driven, detail-oriented professional to serve as our next Senior E-Billing Lead. This is a step-up role designed for someone who has mastered the e-billing craft and is ready to take on ownership, mentorship, and initiative, without yet stepping into a full supervisor or manager seat.

The role will appeal equally to two profiles: an accomplished Senior E-Billing coordinator who has been waiting for the right runway to grow, and an experienced E-Billing leader looking for a high-impact contributor role with meaningful influence rather than a full management scope.

This position may be based in our Downtown Los Angeles, Century City, Orange County, Del Mar, San Diego, Silicon Valley, or San Francisco offices, and is offered on a remote arrangement. There is only one opening.

Job Summary

The Senior E-Billing Lead is a hands-on senior contributor who owns a portfolio of complex e-billing work, mentors a small group of E-Billing Coordinators, and partners closely with the E-Billing Supervisor on process, quality, and escalations. The role blends expert-level execution with leadership: you will still be in the systems every day, but you will also shape how the team works, help the E-Billing group grow professionally, and be a trusted point of escalation for attorneys, clients, and vendors.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical fluency across Aderant, BillBlast, and major e-billing vendor platforms with the judgment, communication, and initiative of someone ready to lead by example.

  • Generate and edit LEDES files to meet client specifications.
  • Address and resolve urgent client requests and billing issues with professionalism and urgency.
  • Serve as a first-line escalation point for coordinators before matters reach the Supervisor.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of electronic billing experience across major e-billing vendor platforms (Legal Tracker, CounselLink, Tymetrix 360, and comparable).
  • 3+ years of billing experience using Aderant or comparable software.

  • Experience with BillBlast and insurance-related e-billing.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and follow-through skills.
  • Excellent responsiveness and a proactive, ownership-driven mindset.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and shifting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
