Onsite Full Time IT & Technology

  • Experience: 12+ years
  • Location: Houston, TX – Onsite

We are hiring a Senior Software Engineer to take on a substantial share of the day-to-day design and hands-on engineering work across the client desktop portfolio. The successful candidate will be expected to: own and ship meaningful chunks of the .NET 8 desktop portfolio independently, hold the technical line on authentication, packaging, installers, and CI/CD, and steward the shared numerical / domain engine library alongside our scientists. This is a hands-on senior engineer role. We expect the incumbent to be writing meaningful production code week-in, week-out, while taking progressively more responsibility for cross-cutting design decisions, pattern-setting, and code review depth.

Qualifications 3.1 Required (must-have)

  • 10 + years of professional software engineering experience, including 3+ years on a production Windows desktop application of meaningful size and lifetime.
  • A track record of landing non-trivial work independently — designing it, shipping it, reviewing the team's response to it, and supporting it in production.
  • Demonstrable experience operating across multiple repositories that share logic, including the disciplined practice of landing the same logical change as coordinated PRs across more than one codebase.

NET and Windows desktop platform

  • Strong, current C# / .NET 8 with comfort across the modern hosting model.
  • Familiarity with the .NET Framework 4.x fi .NET modern migration path — enough to understand remaining legacy patterns and decide when cleanup is worth the effort.
  • Working competence in WinForms (or equivalent rich-client Windows UI) sufficient to maintain and extend a non-trivial production codebase.

Authentication and identity

  • Hands-on experience integrating a desktop application with Azure AD / Entra ID using Microsoft.IdentityModel / System.IdentityModel.Tokens.Jwt — token acquisition, refresh, secure storage, and the supporting UX patterns.

Build, packaging, and CI/CD

  • Strong Azure Pipelines (YAML) authorship and operation — multi-stage pipelines, templates, secrets and service connections, submodule access patterns.
  • Practical experience with at least one of InstallShield (.ism), WiX Toolset, or comparable Windows installer technology, including code-signing pipelines.
  • MSBuild Central Package Management or comparable dependency-governance experience, and NuGet packaging against a private feed (Azure Artifacts or similar).

Data

  • Strong SQL Server (T-SQL, schema design, migration strategy) sufficient to own data-access changes end-to-end.
  • Hands-on experience with MongoDB Atlas (schema/document modelling, aggregation pipelines, index design, and operating against a managed cluster in production).
  • Working competence with at least one ORM (Entity Framework 6, Entity Framework Core, or comparable).
  • ASP.NET Core microservices on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
  • Azure Service Bus direct SDK integration (replacing intermediated messaging frameworks).
  • Reqnroll / FlaUI / JMeter for BDD, UI automation, and load-testing.
  • Polly for resilience patterns.

Software engineering practice

  • Disciplined pull-request engineering — small, reviewable diffs where appropriate; substantive reviews of others' code; willingness to push back on design constructively.
  • Confidence operating in Azure DevOps end-to-end (Git, Boards, Pipelines, Artifacts, Wiki).
