NYC Health + Hospitals is the largest public health care system in the United States, providing essential outpatient, inpatient, and home‑based services to over one million New Yorkers each year.
Purpose of Position
Under direction, with wide latitude for independent initiative and judgment, the holder is responsible for organizing, directing, and coordinating the activities of Divisional Directors to ensure the promotion of Divisional and System policies and programs. The holder may serve as the Deputy to the Assistant Vice President and assumes full responsibility and authority in the latter’s absence in the delegated areas of authority.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Direct, coordinate, and evaluate operations of divisional departments and departmental directors.
- Assist in the establishment of programs and policies reflecting the philosophy and objectives of this Division.
- Attend staff meetings and review budget submissions.
- Provide recommendations and directions regarding proposed projects and/or other related programs.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the Assistant Vice President.
- Act as liaison with other departments to assist in providing technical services.
- Act in lieu of the Assistant Vice President in their absence and in designated operational areas.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Healthcare Administration, Health Care Planning, Business Administration, Public Administration or a related discipline; and seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in health and medical service administration, public administration, personnel and labor relations, finance or appropriate functional discipline with an emphasis on planning, liaison and inter‑organizational relationships, or related administrative or managerial functions; or
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in the disciplines listed above; and eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in the areas listed; or
- Satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience. All candidates must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in the disciplines listed.
