Senior Director, Hips R&D

• Set and execute the R&D vision and strategy for DePuy Synthes’ hips procedural solutions


• Integrate hips solutions with digital, robotics, and biologics portfolios


• Translate customer insights into differentiated solutions delivering clinical and enterprise value


• Steward enterprise capabilities, resources, standards, and ways of working across DePuy Synthes R&D


• Own the upfront and New Product Development lifecycle from concept through launch


• Evolve processes, operating models, and talent to strengthen execution excellence


• Lead globally distributed R&D teams


• Serve on the cross-functional hips platform leadership team


• Provide oversight of strategy execution, speed, quality, customer satisfaction, and profitable growth


• Drive cross-portfolio integration and reuse of platforms, technologies, and capabilities


• Develop innovation roadmaps and differentiated value propositions across the hip care continuum


• Own hips R&D performance against value-creation metrics


• Represent hips R&D on enterprise management forums, operating boards, planning committees, innovation councils, and the DPS R&D Leadership Team


• Maintain relationships with surgeon KOLs and emerging customer segments


• Lead talent and organizational strategy and develop enterprise-minded leaders


• Report to the VP of R&D Joints / VP Hips and Knees R&D

Requirements

• 10 years in R&D


• At least 3 years’ experience specific to Hips systems R&D


• At least a Bachelor’s Degree


• Demonstrated track record in an R&D/Platform leadership position within a large-scale, global organization


• 5-10 years’ experience in organizational and talent development


• Track record of achieving strong results in an orthopedic division or company through influence and collaboration


• Excellent communication and influencing skills


• Ability to build and maintain relationships with organizational leaders, external customers, and regulatory agencies


• Experience executing product launches with emphasis on Design to Excellence and Design to Value principles


• Measurable track record of creating value through new innovations


• Ability to shape/lead a product portfolio and enrich the innovation pipeline


• Around 30% domestic and international travel


• MBA, MS engineering or advanced degree preferred


• Preferred area of study: Mechanical / Systems / Biomedical Engineering


• PMA / Class III Medical Devices experience preferred
