About this Role

Mission Driven Finance is seeking a Senior Director, Fund Management and Client Services to join its Fund Services division. This position plays a critical role in managing the full lifecycle of impact investing fund vehicles and maintaining strong client partner relationships. The Senior Director will work primarily with the Managing Director of Fund Services and will be responsible for overseeing a portfolio of funds, managing client relationships, and ensuring effective operations across multiple fund vehicles. The ideal candidate is an analytical professional with deep expertise in private investments, structured finance, and fund management. This person excels at balancing hands‑on technical analysis with team leadership, managing complex financial models and data, while coaching others to develop similar capabilities. The role requires someone who thrives in a fast‑paced, entrepreneurial environment where initiative and creative problem‑solving are expected and valued. This is a fully remote position designed for a resourceful and highly organized professional capable of managing multiple complex workstreams simultaneously. Responsibilities

  • Oversee a portfolio of funds and client relationships, serving as the dedicated fund manager responsible for the full lifecycle and operation of assigned funds
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned client partner relationships and lead client/partner meetings, including setting agendas, taking minutes, and following up on resulting action items
  • Support fund governance processes for assigned funds, including preparing materials and managing the calendar for Investment Committee and fund advisory board meetings
  • Maintain accurate records of consents, waivers, and other governance actions taken over the life of each fund
  • Screen, underwrite, and produce credit memos for investment opportunities and deals for funds under management
  • Present deals to the MDF Credit Committee and Investment Committee
  • Collaborate with the Investment Team to ensure alignment on underwriting processes and quality standards
  • Coordinate with the Borrower Services team to close investments
  • Model and manage cash flows, distributions, and commitments, ensuring appropriate liquidity for fund vehicles using existing tools or self‑generated tools
  • Collaborate with the Portfolio Management team to monitor portfolio risk and return on a regular basis to evaluate deviations from strategic targets and ensure covenant compliance
  • Recommend strategy modifications as appropriate based on portfolio analysis
  • Prepare portfolio updates for the MDF Investment Committee on a quarterly basis or as requested
  • Partner with Fund Services and IT team members to produce quarterly, annual, and ad‑hoc investor reports for funds under management
  • Manage coordination between MDF and client/partners to complete reports where client/partners are involved in the process
  • Partner with Fund Services team members, Investment Management team, and IT team on portfolio financial and impact data collection
  • Ensure quality data is available to produce reporting and analytics for managed funds
  • Coordinate closely with internal teams including Investment Management, Legal, Accounting & Finance, and IT to ensure execution on fund and client deliverables according to time and quality expectations
  • Ensure all client and partner information is accurately maintained, organized, and updated in all storage drives, systems, and trackers
  • Support the Managing Director of Fund Services on new client‑partner engagements to build and onboard new funds onto MDF’s platform
  • Produce initial fund models to support design of new funds
  • Collaborate with clients to develop initial underwriting tools including underwriting criteria, application processes, deal screeners, and credit memo templates
  • Underwrite initial and pilot deals
  • Collaborate with functional teams to get them up to speed and assist with onboarding activities
  • Partner with the Managing Director of Fund Services to shape and drive process and content improvements to MDF’s Fund Services division
  • Support preparation of proposals and business development efforts with new client partners as requested
  • Lead a small, diverse team with varying areas of focus, ensuring optimal performance by providing constructive feedback and identifying opportunities for growth and development
  • Set clear goals for the team while monitoring progress regularly and implementing strategies to ensure the team meets targets and deadlines
  • Act as a bridge between leadership and team members, facilitating clear communication and understanding of expectations, objectives, and organizational goals
  • Adeptly navigate complex situations, swiftly identify challenges, and implement effective solutions
  • Contribute actively to cross‑functional collaborations and projects, leveraging diverse perspectives to drive innovative outcomes

Requirements

  • 10+ years of relevant experience structuring fund vehicles, executing private credit investments, or managing loan portfolios
  • Advanced ability to use Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets to create and manage fund and financial analyses, including the ability to build fund cash flow models of moderate complexity
  • Proven track record supervising, coaching, and developing Director‑and Associate‑level staff and building high‑performing teams around a shared vision and goals
  • Strong ability to manage a high volume of complex projects that are in different stages through excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills
  • Experience developing processes, templates, and tools to organize information and data, improve efficiency, and promote cross‑functional collaboration
  • Excellent attention to detail, document review, and proofreading skills
