Senior Director, Enterprise Applications (Deputy to the AVP)The University of Virginia (UVA) seeks an experienced and highly capable leader to serve as Senior Director for Enterprise Applications, operating as Deputy to the Assistant Vice President (AVP) during a two-year period of institutional transformation. As the AVP assumes concurrent leadership responsibilities in support of the university's OneUVA Workday transition, the Senior Director will provide day-to-day leadership and management across key areas of the Enterprise Applications portfolio. This role will ensure operational excellence, sustained strategic progress, and strong partnership with stakeholders across the university.Reporting to the AVP for Enterprise Applications, the Senior Director will lead designated teams and serve as a senior representative of the portfolio in institutional forums, as delegated. This role will act as an integrator across stakeholders, systems, and priorities to ensure coordinated execution and will play a critical role in advancing the AVP's strategic vision through strong relationship management and influence. This is a two year limited term position with funding ending January 2028.Leadership & People ManagementPartner closely with the AVP to ensure technical leadership aligns with architectural vision, institutional priorities, and long-term strategyLead with a strong executive presence, modeling professionalism, sound judgment, and clear decision-making across teams and stakeholdersDirectly manage enterprise application teams and/or directors, setting clear expectations and driving accountability for resultsCoach and develop leaders, fostering a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, and leadership growth at all levelsMaintain team stability, engagement, and high performance during periods of enterprise transformationChampion a collaborative, relationship-driven environment that encourages innovation and cross-functional partnershipSupport strategic hiring, talent development, and succession planning to build a strong leadership benchOperational OversightOversee the reliable, secure, and scalable operation of enterprise Student, Document Imaging, and Admissions systemsEnsure strong performance across integrations, infrastructure platforms, and enterprise data environmentsProvide oversight of student success platforms such as Stellic, with a focus on seamless integrations and high-quality data flowPartner across Infrastructure, Security, and other ITS units to deliver coordinated, enterprise-level servicesLead through complex operational challenges, managing escalations and major incidents with composure and clarityMonitor service levels, performance metrics, and risk posture, proactively identifying and addressing issuesStrategic Initiative ExecutionSponsor and lead high-impact enterprise application initiatives aligned with institutional prioritiesDrive forward ERP optimization, enterprise data warehouse efforts, and student system enhancementsTranslate strategic vision into clear, actionable plans with measurable outcomesProvide executive-level insights, analysis, and recommendations to inform decision-making and trade-offsLead change management efforts, ensuring alignment, adoption, and long-term success across stakeholdersApproach challenges with an innovative mindset, identifying creative and effective solutions to complex problemsStakeholder EngagementServe as a senior liaison to Enrollment, Institutional Reporting and Analytics, and academic partnersBuild trust and credibility through strong executive communication, clarity, and consistencyRepresent ITS in advisory bodies and governance forums with confidence and influenceDrive alignment across distributed schools and units with competing prioritiesFoster strong, relationship-driven partnerships across the institutionCommunicate proactively and effectively regarding system priorities, risks, and organizational impactFinancial & Risk StewardshipSupport budget oversight, vendor management, and strategic investment prioritizationEvaluate business cases with a focus on impact, scalability, and long-term valueAssess resource needs and implementation risks to inform sound decision-makingEnsure alignment with data security, compliance, and regulatory requirementsMinimum RequirementsEducation: Bachelor's degreeExperience: 10 years of relevant experienceLicensure: NonePreferred QualificationsAdvanced degree8-10+ years of progressive leadership experience in student systemsDemonstrated success leading large, complex technical teamsSignificant experience with ERP systems (HR, Finance, and/or Student), integrations, reporting, and securityProven ability to lead through change while maintaining operational stabilityExperience in higher education or similarly complex, shared governance environmentsStrong executive presence with exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skillsDemonstrated ability to build relationships, influence outcomes, and lead through collaborationTrack record of innovative problem-solving and delivering results in complex environmentsOversee enterprise PeopleSoft Student, Document Imaging, and Admissions systems enabling reliability, scalability and secure operationsPHYSICAL DEMANDS This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.

In addition, routinely use standard office equipment and occasional moving about inside (and outside) the office and positioning equipment weighing up to 50lbs.Position Type & Work Location This is a full-time, exempt-level, benefited position.
