Senior Director, Engineering Operations | New York | $300K–$350K + Bonus + Equity
We're partnering exclusively with a high-growth technology company in New York to appoint a Senior Director of Engineering Operations, reporting directly to the CTO.
This is a true executive seat - you'll own the strategy and execution across Security, DevOps, QA, Infrastructure, CI/CD, and Observability, acting as the bridge between core product development and operational reliability. Your mandate: enable engineering teams to ship high-quality, secure code fast, at scale.
What you'll own:
Building and scaling multi-disciplinary teams across Platform Engineering, DevOps, Quality Engineering, Infrastructure, and SecOps.
Full operational budget ownership including FinOps, tooling, and vendor strategy. The evolution of an internal developer platform - self-service tooling, golden paths, and frictionless CI/CD. Embedding DevSecOps into the SDLC and maintaining compliance posture (SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, GDPR, PCI). End-to-end observability, SLOs/SLIs, error budgets, and a blameless incident culture. A data-driven approach to engineering performance using DORA and SPACE metrics.
What we're looking for:
- 12+ years in software engineering, infrastructure, or platform operations, with 5+ years at Director level or above.
- Deep hands-on background in cloud architecture (major public cloud), Kubernetes, and Terraform. Experience overseeing enterprise CI/CD, observability, and security tooling ecosystems.
- A proven record of using operational data to improve deployment velocity and system stability. Strong grounding in zero-trust architecture, IAM, and compliance frameworks. An executive communicator who leads with technical empathy for developers.
Nice to have:
- Platform engineering transformations or large-scale cloud migrations, CNCF/open-source involvement, and experience leading distributed teams.
