Senior Director, Legal – Public Sector Sales

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted adviser to senior leadership
  • Act as supervising attorney for Public Sector Sales transactions
  • Negotiate and draft sales agreements, Statements of Work, and other agreements with customers in support of U.S. Public Sector organizations
  • Identify and implement legal process improvements to support efficient deal closure; assist in developing training materials and deliver training to the business on relevant legal topics and best practices
  • Provide legal advice and counsel on compliance matters
  • Collaborate with legal team members on drafting and negotiating contracts for sales, product support, non-disclosure, and other agreements with customers and partners related to complex sales engagements
  • Partner with revenue recognition, sales operations, technology operations, and other stakeholder teams to ensure agreements are consistent with internal corporate policies and processes
  • Partner with Sales and other internal business constituents throughout the customer lifecycle to ensure customer success and to protect Salesforce’s interests
  • Ensure all negotiations reflect our core values of trust and transparency

Required Skills & Experience

  • Undergraduate degree and law degree from accredited institutions
  • Active bar admission in one or more states
  • 10+ years of experience in contracts law
  • Demonstrated success leading a team of legal professionals
  • Collaborative and transparent approach when working with key internal and external stakeholders
  • Security clearance strongly preferred; deep familiarity navigating classified environments and working with U.S. government agencies
  • Strong expertise in government contracting, including global public sector frameworks and compliance considerations
  • Experience with commercial item sales to government, including a solid understanding of procurement pathways and constraints
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and negotiation skills
  • Highly responsive and service-oriented approach
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage deadlines in a fast‑paced and demanding work environment
  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with senior executives and other internal clients
  • Sound and practical business judgment
  • Empathetic and collaborative working style

  • Substantive expertise in software‑as‑a‑service transactions
  • Substantive experience with CRM, platform, and marketing services agreements
  • Substantial experience supporting sales departments as an internal partner

Salary and Benefits

The typical base salary range for this position is $218,400 - $365,200 annually. The range represents base salary only, not including bonus, incentive for sales roles, equity or benefits, as applicable.
