The Senior Director, Assistant Controller will play a critical leadership role in strengthening financial operations and supporting business growth within a dynamic global organization. This position oversees financial close processes, technical accounting initiatives, internal controls, and scalable accounting operations. The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on execution, providing the opportunity to improve systems, automate processes, and build a high-performing finance function. Working closely with finance leadership and cross-functional teams, you will help ensure accurate reporting, operational efficiency, and strong financial governance. Accountabilities
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual global financial close processes, ensuring accurate and timely reporting across entities and currencies.
- Manage technical accounting research and application for complex areas including revenue recognition, leases, stock-based compensation, business combinations, and foreign currency transactions.
- Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team, providing coaching, performance feedback, and career development opportunities.
- Oversee consolidation activities for international entities, including intercompany eliminations, transfer pricing coordination, and multi-currency reporting.
- Manage external audit relationships and ensure efficient audit preparation, documentation, and compliance.
- Partner with financial planning teams to align actual results, forecasts, and management reporting.
- Drive process improvement and automation initiatives across accounting operations, including evaluation and implementation of financial systems and tools.
- Oversee equity compensation accounting, reporting processes, and coordination with internal teams and external providers.
- Review technical accounting documentation and ensure appropriate support for complex accounting positions.
- Support strategic initiatives including mergers and acquisitions, financial due diligence, treasury activities, and business partnership requests.
- Ensure compliance with statutory reporting and regulatory requirements across global jurisdictions.
- Champion automation, AI-enabled solutions, and emerging technologies to improve accounting efficiency and accuracy.
- Optimize the use of offshore and outsourced resources while maintaining strong controls and operational quality.
- Provide oversight of payroll accounting, benefits-related inputs, accounts payable operations, and treasury processes.
- Establish a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and professional growth within the accounting organization.
Requirements
The ideal candidate is a seasoned accounting professional with extensive experience managing complex financial operations in a global technology or SaaS environment. They should combine strong technical accounting knowledge with leadership capabilities, business acumen, and a continuous improvement mindset.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- CPA certification strongly preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting experience with a Big 4 or national accounting firm and industry experience.
- Experience working in SaaS, software, or other technology-driven environments preferred.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and experience applying complex accounting standards, including ASC 606.
- Proven experience managing accounting teams and developing high-performing professionals.
- Experience with multi-entity international organizations, including foreign subsidiaries and multi-currency consolidation.
- Strong understanding of financial close processes, internal controls, and financial reporting requirements.
- Experience with modern ERP systems such as NetSuite, Workday, Oracle, or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with close management, automation, and financial reporting tools.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex accounting concepts to executives and non-financial stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize effectively and operate successfully in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
