Remote Full Time Marketing & Media

We are hiring a Senior Designer to own the design of what we publish: brand identity, campaigns, websites, pitch documents and presentations, product interfaces, and video.

This is a hands-on ownership role, not a support-only one. You own each idea through to the finish line: the concept, the direction, the design, and the oversight of delivery.

You take business and marketing briefs and turn them into creative concepts, then design them: brand identity, campaigns, websites, presentations and pitch documents, product interfaces and video.

You will lead a team of Graphic Designers, Video Editors and Software Engineers to work alongside you on execution. The role exists for the idea as much as the artwork, so what you conceptualise matters as much as what you produce.

Your core advantage is that you decide what the work should be, not only how to make it. You take a business problem and an audience and come back with an answer and a reason for it, built from reference you have gone and found rather than from what has been done before. That judgement is central to the role.

This is a fully remote role. We are open to candidates based anywhere.

WORKING HOURS (fully remote)

Monday to Friday: 9am to 6pm UK time (BST)

Saturday: 9am to 1:00pm UK time (BST)

THE ROLE

You will:

  • Originate the concept. You are given a business problem and an audience, and you decide what the answer is, including when the answer is not the one that was asked for.
  • Produce more than one real answer to a brief. Genuinely different directions, not three versions of the same idea, and an argument for which one is right for that audience.
  • Build the creative direction for each brand and be able to say where it came from and what it is arguing, so that the work is a position rather than a preference.
  • Bring reference and range. You look widely, well outside this sector and often outside design, and you can name precisely what you are taking from where.
  • Make or reference the first version of everything: brand work, campaigns, websites, pitch documents, presentations, product interfaces, video and social.
  • Design documents and presentations for leadership and institutional partners, where the design has to carry the credibility of the argument.
  • Design and specify product and dashboard interfaces precisely enough for our engineers to build them: the screens, the states, the components, the behaviour.
  • Art‑direct video and photography: what gets shot, how it is cut, how the titles and captions look, how a piece is framed for each platform.
  • Keep each brand internally consistent and distinct from the others, so that none of them read as a template.
  • Review work produced alongside you by other designers, and give clear, specific feedback on it.
  • Build the systems that make volume possible: type scales, colour, components, presentation masters and templates, so recurring work becomes fast and stays on standard.
  • Work at pace across several brands publishing at once, and deliver to a schedule rather than to inspiration.
  • Take an ambiguous brief, resolve what is unclear yourself, and come back with a finished answer rather than a list of questions.

The work spans several brands across international consulting, from research and advisory through to student‑facing community work, and extends to whatever else across the business needs designing well. You are the person who makes sure the idea is right, the craft holds up, and the finished piece is excellent.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • 3+ years in a design role where you owned the work you produced, not just executed someone else's layouts.
  • A spectacular portfolio with a visible point of view: work that could only have come from you.
  • Ideas that are yours. At least one piece where you set the concept, and where you can say what you rejected on the way to it.
  • Conceptual range. Given one brief you can produce genuinely different answers rather than variations on a single idea, and argue for the right one.
  • Breadth of reference. You can say where your influences come from, and the strongest answers usually come from outside design.
  • Real craft underneath the ideas: typography, layout, hierarchy, restraint. We will look at the work before we read the CV.
  • Range across formats. Range matters more to us than depth in any single one.
  • Comfort with the serious end of the register as well as the loud end. Both a considered document for a senior audience and a piece that stops a scroll.
  • Strong presentation and document design. A substantial part of the output is decks and pitch documents.
  • Working knowledge of interface design, enough to design a real screen and hand it to an engineer.
  • The ability to art‑direct video even if you do not edit it yourself, and an advantage if you do.
  • Sustained output. The role carries a high volume of work across several brands at once.
  • Excellent written and spoken English. You will be working directly with the founder and with senior external stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working fully remote, to UK hours, with high autonomy.

NICE TO HAVE

  • Motion design or video editing you do yourself: After Effects, Premiere, DaVinci, CapCut.
  • Experience building or maintaining a design system.
  • Front‑end ability, even light: enough HTML and CSS to shape a page rather than hand it over and hope.
  • Illustration, 3D or generative imagery as a personal strength.
  • Experience designing for a data or analytics product.
  • Experience running or briefing other designers, freelancers or an agency.
  • Exposure to the education, study‑abroad, student or youth sector.
  • Personal work you make because you want to as a passion
