Senior Design ManagerCordoba Corporation is a leading engineering and design firm based in California. We are seeking a Senior Design Manager to join our Facilities Sector.The Senior Design Manager leads and oversees multiple capital improvement projects with a strong focus on seismic upgrades, critical repairs, retrofits, and engineering repair initiatives. This role manages multidisciplinary design teams and coordinates the District's architectural and engineering (A&E) design review process to ensure projects meet programmatic, budgetary, environmental, legal, and regulatory requirements.
The Senior Design Manager collaborates closely with architects, consultants, contractors, and District stakeholders to drive project delivery, maintain schedule objectives, and ensure compliance with District design standards and educational facility requirements. Through effective leadership and oversight, the position ensures that new construction and modernization projects are delivered with high-quality design solutions that support both operational and educational goals.ResponsibilitiesManages multiple projects with particular emphasis on seismic, critical repair and retrofit projectsManages and supervises a team of design professionals and other professionals through the design review processManages, develops, and coordinates the District's design process for the A&E services to ensure that design plans are within functional program, budgetary, environmental and legal requirementsManages multiple projects, including engineering repair and critical repair, through interaction with Architects, consultants, and District personnel to ensure timely completion of these projectsOversees the building design process to ensure compliance with the client's standards and guidelines for the District by working with design professionals and various District administrators to ensure that new and modernized structures meet both educational and building standards requirementsEstablishes and follows a process to identify and select the architectural firm best suited for each project based on the firms' qualifications and ability to meet performance standardsProvides Architects with clear and consistent direction with regard to goals and objectives, standards, sites, schedules, and budgets for each projectEstablishes and follows an effective and efficient design review process to ensure that the design meets the overall goals and objectives for each projectProvides maximum value for dollars budgeted, and are appropriate and enduring to meet the functional needs of the District, the local community, and the environmentReviews design changes submitted to ensure project remains within budgetMonitors project planning and design status to report findings, recommendations and updatesPerforms other duties as assignedQualifications14 years of experience managing the facilities design, or the planning and coordination of capital projects that included the overall design, contract administration, cost estimating, and scheduling activities4 years of this experience must be with the design, planning and construction of educational facilities or similar public agenciesWith excellent written and verbal communication skillsGraduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelor's degree in architecture or engineeringPreferred Qualifications:A master's degree in architecture or engineeringA valid Certificate of Registration as an Architect by the California State Architectural Board or Professional Engineer by the State Board for Professional Engineers and Land SurveyorsSalary Range: $176,000 to $195,000 yearlyLocation: Los Angeles, CAWork Environment: OnsiteOur CompanyCordoba Corporation is a nationally recognized civil engineering, construction management, program management, and planning firm.
