Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Design Engineer – Product Development to support the design, development, testing, and commercialization of innovative consumer products.

This is a hands‑on engineering role for someone who enjoys taking a product from concept through design, prototype, testing, manufacturing, and production . The ideal candidate combines strong mechanical design capabilities with practical knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and Design for Manufacturing (DFM).

The Senior Design Engineer will work closely with internal teams, suppliers, and overseas manufacturing partners to develop new products, improve existing designs, resolve technical challenges, and support successful product launches.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and refine mechanical product designs using sound engineering principles, research, and creative problem‑solving.
  • Translate product requirements and concepts into detailed engineering solutions for review and development.
  • Create complex 3D models, assemblies, engineering drawings, and technical documentation using Creo Parametric .
  • Create and maintain product specifications and supporting engineering documentation.
  • Evaluate prototypes to verify functionality, performance, manufacturability, quality, and design intent.
  • Identify and recommend materials, components, and manufacturing processes that improve product performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost.
  • Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles throughout the product‑development process.
  • Perform tolerance analysis and evaluate mechanical interfaces, fit, function, and assembly requirements.
  • Support product certification and testing activities by preparing engineering documentation, prototypes, and test samples.
  • Collaborate directly with suppliers and overseas engineering/manufacturing teams to communicate design intent and resolve technical issues.
  • Provide engineering support during product launches and production, including troubleshooting design‑related issues and implementing engineering changes.
  • Participate in root‑cause investigations, corrective actions, and continuous product‑improvement initiatives.
  • Manage multiple product-development projects and engineering priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Create presentation‑quality product renderings and visual models for concept reviews, supplier communication, marketing, and other business needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
  • Significant experience in mechanical product design and product development, preferably within consumer products, outdoor products, appliances, lighting, power tools, furniture, recreational products, or other durable goods .
  • Advanced proficiency with Creo Parametric , including complex part modeling, assemblies, surfacing, and engineering drawings.
  • Demonstrated experience developing products from concept through prototype, testing, design iteration, and production.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials selection, tolerance analysis, and DFM.
  • Experience creating detailed 3D models, engineering drawings, product specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Strong understanding of common manufacturing processes and the ability to design products for efficient and reliable production.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot product and manufacturing issues and develop practical engineering solutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast‑paced product‑development environment.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working directly with overseas manufacturers, suppliers, or offshore engineering teams .
  • Experience with consumer or outdoor living products.
  • Experience supporting product certification and compliance testing.
  • Experience with KeyShot and/or Adobe Photoshop .
  • Experience creating high‑quality product renderings and presentation materials.

The successful candidate will be a strong, hands‑on design engineer who can take ownership of the technical details of product development—allowing engineering leadership to focus more heavily on concept development, supplier strategy, project execution, production support, and the continued growth of the engineering organization.
