This is a 12-month contract position for a Senior Database Security Engineer based in Richmond, Virginia.
Responsibilities
- Administer, engineer, and troubleshoot Imperva DAM (SecureSphere) in production environments
- Provide hands‑on support for database security monitoring, auditing, and threat detection
- Manage vendor relationships and coordinate with technical support teams to resolve complex platform issues, upgrades, and bug fixes
- Automate operational and security tasks using scripting and APIs
- Monitor for policy drift, baseline deviations, and security anomalies across database systems
Qualifications
- Required
- Direct, hands‑on administration, engineering, and troubleshooting experience with Imperva DAM (SecureSphere)
- Deep foundational knowledge of database architectures, querying, logging mechanisms, and system catalogs
- Experience with at least one of the following enterprise database platforms: Microsoft SQL Server (MS-SQL), IBM DB2, Oracle, or Teradata
- Demonstrated ability to automate operational tasks using scripts such as Python, PowerShell, Bash, or REST APIs
- Familiarity with database auditing principles, baseline governance, and policy drift resolution
- Preferred
- Experience with multiple enterprise database platforms
- Proven track record working with vendors on technical support for complex platform issues
- Knowledge of threat and anomaly detection in database security contexts
