About the Department

The Finance & Operations Department brings insights and intelligence to inform decision making, drives digitalization and business solutions, and supports the organization’s growth and operational excellence across the value chain.

The Position

The Senior Data Scientist will drive the NNI Advanced Analytics vision by building machine‑learning tools—such as recommendation engines, propensity‑scoring systems, and A/B testing procedures—and collaborating with the Big Data Analytics COE and related teams.

Relationships

Reports to the Director of Data Science. Works with Commercial Effectiveness functions, Big Data Analytics COE, and extends collaboration to other commercial and functional areas as needed.

Essential Functions

• Develop machine‑learning solutions using commercial data sources (IQVIA, Truven, Veeva, Adobe, etc.).
• Build and maintain data acquisition, processing, and curation pipelines.
• Mine and analyze data to generate insights on patient, physician, and payer segmentation.
• Translate analytic insights into real‑world solutions.
• Design methods for real‑time predictive and descriptive analytics from large datasets.
• Deliver new solutions that solve commercial problems and demonstrate successful implementation.
• Occasionally network with academic and external data‑science partners.

Physical Requirements

0‑10% overnight travel required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or a related field (advanced degree or 8+ years of relevant industry experience may be substituted).
• Proficiency in machine‑learning methods (supervised, unsupervised, reinforced, ensemble) and algorithms such as k‑NN, linear/GLM, Bayesian, SVM, and Random Forest.
• Experience with analytics tools (Python, R, SAS, SQL, PowerPivot) and data‑platform experience.
• Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to influence stakeholders across the organization.
• Track record of translating technical mastery into impactful projects.
• Deep knowledge in at least one technical area—computer science, computational statistics, Bayesian inference, mathematics, or systems dynamics.

• Base salary range $120,300–$222,600; eligibility for company bonus, long‑term incentive compensation, and optional company vehicle.
