Position Summary
The Senior Data Engineer / Healthcare Lakehouse Architect is a senior technical contributor responsible for implementing, optimizing, and supporting the company's enterprise healthcare data platform and cloud-based lakehouse architecture.
Working under the strategic direction of the company's data and analytics leadership, this role provides deep technical expertise in healthcare data engineering, cloud architecture, interoperability, and enterprise data integration across Clinical Integration Networks (CINs), Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs), rural hospitals, payers, health information exchanges, and implementation partners.
The Senior Data Engineer partners closely with leadership to translate enterprise data strategy into scalable technical solutions by developing cloud infrastructure, healthcare data pipelines, interoperability frameworks, governance capabilities, and analytics-ready data assets that support population health, quality improvement, value-based care, and enterprise reporting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities*Lakehouse Platform Engineering*
- Design, implement, and optimize technical components of the company's enterprise healthcare lakehouse platform in alignment with organizational strategy.
- Develop scalable data pipelines, ingestion frameworks, transformation processes, and orchestration workflows.
- Build and maintain Databricks, Delta Lake, and AWS-based solutions that support enterprise reporting and analytics.
- Continuously improve platform performance, reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency.
*Healthcare Data Integration*
- Implement integrations with EHRs, HIEs, payers, laboratories, remote patient monitoring platforms, and third-party vendors.
- Develop and maintain pipelines supporting HL7, FHIR, CCD/CCDA, ADT, claims, and quality reporting data.
- Collaborate with implementation partners to ensure reliable, high-quality data integration.
*Architecture \& Technical Standards*
- Recommend technical architecture improvements and engineering best practices.
- Support metadata management, data cataloging, monitoring, and platform documentation.
- Collaborate with leadership to implement enterprise data governance and interoperability standards.
*Security \& Compliance*
- Implement secure engineering practices that support HIPAA and organizational security requirements.
- Support HITRUST, SOC 2, audit, and compliance initiatives through secure platform design and documentation.
- Maintain appropriate data access controls, monitoring, and technical safeguards.
Collaboration \& Technical Leadership
- Serve as the primary technical engineering resource for lakehouse implementation activities.
- Partner with Data \& Analytics leadership, project leadership, implementation partners, and vendors to execute technical workstreams.
- Provide technical guidance during implementation, testing, troubleshooting, optimization, and production support.
- Mentor future engineers and contribute to development of engineering standards as the team grows.
*Education and Experience*
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field (Master's preferred).
- Minimum of seven (7) years of healthcare data engineering, interoperability, enterprise analytics, or platform architecture experience.
- Demonstrated experience implementing modern cloud-based healthcare data platforms.
- Experience supporting complex healthcare environments involving multiple organizations, vendors, and stakeholders.

- Advanced SQL and Python
- Databricks, Apache Spark, and Delta Lake
- AWS cloud services
- HL7, FHIR, CCD/CCDA
- Healthcare claims, clinical, and ADT datasets
- Healthcare interoperability and data governance
- CI/CD, DevOps, and infrastructure automation preferred
- Protect PHI in accordance with HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules.
- Access, use, and disclose PHI only as permitted by organizational policy.
- Implement and maintain appropriate technical safeguards for healthcare data.
- Support organizational security and compliance initiatives.
Pay: $170,000.00 - $185,000.00 per year
Experience:
- healthcare data engineering/analytics/platform architecture: 7 years (Preferred)
