Our mission is to provide extraordinary care by empowered people through exceptional outcomes.The Senior Data Engineer plays a critical role within the Business Intelligence team, designing, building, and maintaining scalable data architecture and data integration solutions that support clinical, operational, and strategic initiatives across Terros Health.This role is responsible for developing and optimizing enterprise data pipelines and data warehouse structures, ensuring high data quality, integrity, and accessibility. The Senior Data Engineer partners closely with business leaders, analysts, and IT teams to translate complex business needs into sustainable data solutions that drive informed decision-making and improved patient outcomes.DutiesLeads the design of and develops and maintains scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes to integrate data from internal and external systems.Builds and optimizes Enterprise Data Warehouse structures to support analytics, reporting, and operational workflows.Implements and maintains data models (dimensional and relational) to ensure efficient and accurate reporting.Evaluates and recommends improvements to data architecture, storage, and processing performance.Establishes and enforces data quality standards, validation processes, and monitoring to ensure data integrity and reliability.Leads development of data governance practices, including data definitions, metadata management, and data lineage documentation.Ensures compliance with healthcare data standards and regulations related to security and privacy.Develops and maintains integrations using healthcare data standards and formats including HL7, FHIR, APIs, SFTP, and flat files.Collaborates with clinical and operational teams to ensure accurate and timely data exchange across systems.Partners with analysts, clinical leaders, and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.Provides technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members and peers.Participates in cross-functional initiatives to support organizational goals and strategic priorities.Monitors and optimizes performance of data pipelines, queries, and warehouse environments.Identifies and resolves data issues, bottlenecks, and system inefficiencies.Stays current with emerging data engineering tools, technologies, and best practices and recommends and drives adoption where appropriate.Maintains comprehensive documentation including data dictionaries, pipeline documentation, and technical design artifacts.Communicates technical concepts, risks, and solutions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Benefits & WellnessMultiple medical plans - including a no premium plan for employees and their familiesMultiple dental plans - including orthodontiaFinancial well-being - 401(k) with a company match, interest free medical line of credit, financial education, planning, and support4 Weeks of paid time off in the first yearWellness programPet InsuranceGroup life and disability insuranceEmployee Assistance Program for the Whole FamilyPersonal and family mental and physical health accessProfessional growth & development - including scholarships, clinical supervision, and CEUsTuition discounts with GCU and The University of PhoenixWorking Advantage - Employee perks and discountsGym membershipsCar rentalsFlights, hotels, movies and moreBilingual pay differentialQualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field (or equivalent experience); master's degree preferred.A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in data engineering, data architecture, or related field.Advanced SQL development skills, including stored procedures, performance tuning, and query optimizationExperience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines and enterprise data warehouse environmentsExperience working with structured and semi-structured data formats (JSON, XML, CSVExperience integrating data via APIs, SFTP, and healthcare interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR)Strong understanding of data modeling concepts (dimensional, relational, star/snowflake schemas)Experience with performance tuning and database optimizationExperience working with healthcare or behavioral health data strongly preferredMust have a valid Arizona driver's license, be 21 years of age with a minimum of 3 years driving experience, and meet requirements of Terros Health's driving policy
