Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school.
- Active admission to at least one U.S. state bar; California admission preferred.
- 7+ years of relevant legal experience.
- Strong commercial contract drafting and negotiation experience.
- Experience independently managing contracts and legal matters from start to finish.
- Experience working with contract management or legal technology systems.
- Experience supporting cross-functional teams within a technology, financial services, fintech, or other regulated environment.
- Strong business judgment with the ability to identify and prioritize material legal risks.
- Ability to provide practical, solutions-oriented legal advice to business stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, negotiate, and manage a wide variety of commercial agreements, including SaaS, software, technology, vendor, data, licensing, confidentiality, and service agreements.
- Manage contracts and legal matters from initial intake through negotiation, stakeholder alignment, risk assessment, and execution.
- Partner with product, technology, information security, sales, marketing, finance, operations, compliance, and executive leadership on legal and business matters.
- Provide practical legal guidance related to technology, privacy, data security, data use, vendor relationships, regulatory requirements, and operational matters.
- Support strategic business initiatives, new products, partnerships, and technology development.
- Advise on consumer-facing products, advertising and marketing, intellectual property, corporate governance, and risk management matters.
- Support enterprise customer agreements, strategic partnerships, reseller arrangements, and data licensing transactions.
- Assist with corporate governance, board materials, corporate records, subsidiary matters, and internal policies.
- Manage relationships with outside counsel on litigation, employment, intellectual property, regulatory, and other specialized matters.
- Monitor relevant legal and regulatory developments and translate them into practical guidance for business stakeholders.
