Job Title: Senior Control Systems Engineer

Location: Hybrid - East Windsor, New Jersey - some travel

Salary: $130,000-$170,000 + Bonus, Benefits and Travel Paid

Responsibilities

  • Lead detailed design, implementation, start‑up, and commissioning of complex control systems and HMI/PLC applications.
  • Read, interpret, and provide field feedback on P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and control system schematics.
  • Design control system architectures, author complex design documents, and provide instrumentation specifications.
  • Manage project tasks to ensure completion on schedule and under budget; identify and communicate scope changes.
  • Serve as the primary customer contact for assigned projects, maintaining professional and proactive client communication.
  • Mentor and direct junior staff during installation, commissioning, and operational phases.
  • Contribute to quality processes, including maintaining the company Quality Management System and supporting value‑engineered solutions.

Must‑Have Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Science, or related engineering discipline.
  • Typically 10+ years of total relevant experience with at least 3+ years in a Control Systems Project Engineer II or equivalent role.
  • Advanced proficiency with PLC programming and HMI design and implementation.
  • Proven experience leading start‑up and commissioning activities on complex control systems.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and control documentation.
  • Experience designing control system architectures and authoring technical design documents.
  • Willingness and ability to travel overnight up to 50% and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Nice‑to‑Have Skills

  • Familiarity with migrating and upgrading legacy control systems and defining migration paths.
  • Experience with IT/network infrastructure design as it relates to control system integration.
  • Background in value engineering to deliver cost‑effective control solutions.
  • Knowledge of or experience in district energy, life sciences, or mission critical environments.
  • Exposure to Quality Management System processes and participation in technical training or trade shows.
  • Experience participating in on‑call rotations and responding to client needs after hours.
