Senior Control Systems Engineer in Pittsburgh, PA
- $60/hr. - $70/hr.
- Contract role with hybrid work environment (Monday and Friday remote, Tuesday through Thursday in office)
What You'll Be Doing:
- Lead the design of industrial facility control system architectures, hardware, and software
- Design, program, and commission PLC, HMI, DCS, and historian-based control systems
- Serve as the controls discipline lead, managing scope, schedule, budget, and quality objectives
- Develop control system documentation including specifications, drawings, datasheets, test documents, and reports
- Perform detailed design of control panels, networks, software, and field wiring
- Support FEED studies, cost estimates, and EPC execution phases
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, designers, contractors, and clients
- Review and solicit bids for control system equipment and services
- Participate in and lead project meetings, providing progress updates and technical presentations
- Support site startup activities including loop checks, troubleshooting, network testing, and system acceptance testing
- BS in Engineering required; MS preferred
- PE license preferred; PMP certification is a plus
- 6+ years of related control systems engineering experience
- Strong understanding of PFDs and P&IDs
- Expert-level PLC programming skills (Ladder Logic, Function Block, Structured Text)
- Extensive experience with Rockwell Automation tools (Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View, Historian)
- Working knowledge of Schneider, Siemens, Wonderware, or equivalent platforms is a plus
- Experience with industrial communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, ControlNet, Modbus RTU/TCP, Profibus, Profinet)
- Hands-on experience with VFD setup, programming, and troubleshooting (PowerFlex preferred)
- Solid understanding of closed-loop control systems, signal analysis, and digital filtering
- Experience within CAE platforms preferred
- Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills
- Willingness to travel and support on-site startup activities as needed
