Senior Content StrategistThe City of New York is reimagining nyc.gov, and we're looking for a Content Strategist to help make city government more accessible to every New Yorker. In this role, you'll translate complex policies, laws, and processes into clear, plain-language web experiences that guide residents through everything city government has to offer. If you're a sharp writer who loves research, thrives in collaborative environments, and finds purpose in public service — this role is for you.Location: Hybrid — 3 days on-site at 2 MetroTech Center, Brooklyn, NY 11201 | 2 days remote Type: Contract Reports To: Lead Digital StrategistWhat You'll DoDevelop content requirements and outlines for guided user experiences across nyc.govWrite compelling, plain-language web copy in compliance with the NYC Web Content Style GuideInterview subject matter experts from across city agencies to understand and distill complex topicsBuild and audit inventories of existing site features and contentAnalyze Google Analytics data to understand user behavior and inform content decisionsResearch city laws, policies, and processes to ensure accuracy and clarityDeliver polished content artifacts on strict deadlinesConduct quality assurance and provide critical feedback across content workstreamsDefine and track key performance indicators for content deliverablesWhat We're Looking ForRequired:10+ years of full-time experience as a Content Strategist, Editorial Strategist, Information Architect, or in a comparable roleStrong copywriting skills with a portfolio of published workExperience writing to a style guideStrong research and analytical skillsExcellent interpersonal skills — comfortable organizing meetings and collaborating with diverse stakeholdersProven ability to self-manage tasks and deliver on deadlineWorking knowledge of Google Analytics (ability to run traffic reports and apply insights to content)Experience using user research to inform content decisionsPreferred:Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Creative Writing, Digital Media, or a related fieldBackground in government, higher education, or nonprofit settingsExperience writing in plain language at a sub-7th grade reading levelHands-on experience with a modern content management system (CMS)Ability to navigate complex approval workflows involving legal, policy, and executive stakeholders
