Job Summary:

Crosslands Construction is seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer to join our team in Englewood, Colorado. This role goes beyond traditional project coordination—the right candidate will serve as a working mentor to our existing Project Engineers, sharing hard-won knowledge of construction processes, documentation discipline, and proactive problem-solving as they execute day-to-day project responsibilities.

We are looking for someone who has mastered the fundamentals of commercial construction project engineering, takes pride in doing things the right way, and is energized by helping others grow. If you excel in the details, communicate clearly, and understand that a team performs best when everyone around you gets better, this opportunity is built for you.

In Addition To Carrying Your Own Project Responsibilities, You Will Work Directly Alongside Our Current Project Engineers On Shared Projects And Workflows. Your Day-to-day Will Include Coaching And Demonstrating Best Practices For:

  • RFI and submittal management — organization, timing, and follow-through
  • Document control and project-filing discipline
  • Subcontractor coordination and scope management
  • Reading and resolving drawing and specification conflicts before they hit the field
  • Owner and design-team communication
  • Change order and cost-reporting accuracy
  • Closeout and turnover execution

This is not a training-only role—you will be an active project contributor. The mentorship is embedded in how you work, not set aside from it.

Responsibilities:

Project Execution

  • Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and project documents with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, change documentation, meeting minutes, and project correspondence from initiation through resolution.
  • Review subcontractor and vendor submittals for compliance with project requirements.
  • Maintain current drawing sets, specifications, logs, and project files according to company standards.
  • Assist with subcontractor buyout, scope reviews, bid comparisons, and contract documentation.
  • Coordinate material selections, procurement schedules, lead times, and deliveries.
  • Support the preparation and review of change orders, purchase orders, pay applications, and cost reports.
  • Attend owner, architect, contractor, and subcontractor meetings; prepare agendas, minutes, and follow‑up items.
  • Conduct site visits to review progress and document field conditions.
  • Assist with quality‑control inspections, punch lists, closeout documents, warranties, and turnover requirements.
  • Identify document conflicts, procurement gaps, and scope issues before they affect construction.

Mentorship and Team Development

  • Model best‑in‑class project engineering habits for current Project Engineers through daily work.
  • Guide junior PEs on RFI and submittal management, document control, and project-filing discipline.
  • Review and provide constructive feedback on project documentation prepared by other team members.
  • Share practical knowledge of subcontractor coordination, scope management, and change documentation.
  • Help team members develop proactive habits for identifying risks before they reach the field.
  • Support onboarding of new PEs by sharing established workflows, tools, and company standards.
  • Participate in project debriefs and contribute insights that improve team‑wide processes.
  • Communicate openly with the project manager and superintendent about the team's development needs.

Communication and Coordination

  • Communicate clearly and professionally with field personnel, subcontractors, vendors, clients, and design professionals.
  • Maintain timely follow‑up on open items, deadlines, and project concerns.
  • Build positive working relationships with internal and external project partners.
  • Represent Crosslands Construction with professionalism, accountability, and integrity.
