Our claims professionals are trusted experts who bring deep technical expertise, sound judgment, and a commitment to delivering exceptional outcomes for our clients.  In this role, you will manage a portfolio of complex casualty claims, handling matters from initial notice through resolution.

You will play a key role in driving strategy, advising stakeholders, and delivering best-in-class claims outcomes while working alongside a highly collaborative and experienced team.We are seeking an experienced professional to join our team in New York.  This position is a great opportunity for practicing lawyers looking to transition out of a law firm as well as claim professionals with casualty claims experience.Duties and Responsibilities:Lead end-to-end claims management for complex casualty claims across primary and excess policiesTake ownership of the full claims lifecycle, from first notice of loss through final resolutionServe as a trusted advisor to internal partners, insureds, and brokersAnalyze policy language and draft clear, well-supported coverage determinationsDrive investigations forward, coordinating with experts and ensuring timely progressManage defense counsel and external vendors, maintaining strong oversight and accountabilityPartner closely with insureds and brokers throughout the lifecycle of the claimAssess liability, damages, and coverage exposure to inform strategic decision-makingSet and manage reserves within authority, providing recommendations where appropriatePrepare clear, concise reporting that reflects claim strategy and developmentsRepresent BHSI at mediations, client meetings, and trials as neededQualifications, Skills and Experience:A minimum of 15 years of experience handling Casualty claims, or matching equivalency.Strong technical expertise in complex claims analysis and resolutionJD preferred, particularly for candidates transitioning from private practice, but not requiredDemonstrated ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in a team environmentExceptional communication, negotiation, and investigative skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environmentExperience handling excess claims across multiple jurisdictionsMust possess or be willing to obtain required adjuster licenses  BHSI Offers:A competitive package and exciting growth opportunities for career-oriented teammates.A dynamic, action oriented, and thoughtful environment centered on always doing the right thing for our customers, teammates, and our other stakeholders.A purposely non-bureaucratic organization that embraces simplicity over complexity and emphasizes individual excellence in a team framework.Benefits that support your life and well-being, which include:Comprehensive Health, Dental and Vision benefitsDisability Insurance (both short-term and long-term)Life Insurance (for you and your family)Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance (for you and your family)Flexible Spending AccountsHealth Reimbursement AccountEmployee Assistance ProgramRetirement Savings 401(k) Plan with Company MatchGenerous holiday and Paid Time OffTuition ReimbursementPaid Parental LeaveThe base salary range for this position is $160,000 to $180,000, along with annual bonus eligibility.
