Responsibilities
The Senior CNC Programmer/Machinist will independently program, set up, prove out, troubleshoot, and optimize CNC milling and turning operations while working closely with Engineering, Quality, and Production to ensure efficient, high-quality manufacturing
Develop and write CNC programs for milling machines, lathes, and other CNC equipment using CAM software such as Mastercam or CATIA
Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints to determine machining requirements
Perform precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other precision instruments to verify part dimensions
Adjust programs as necessary to optimize machining processes for efficiency and quality
Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to implement lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives
Troubleshoot machining issues related to tooling, geometry, or machine operation
Maintain detailed documentation of programs, setups, and process parameters for quality control purposes
Qualifications
Minimum ten (10) years of CNC programming and machining experience in a precision manufacturing environment
Proficiency in CNC programming languages such as G-code and M-code
Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Production to improve manufacturability and efficiency
Strong knowledge of CAD software including AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and CATIA for designing parts and fixtures
Expertise in CAM programming for toolpath generation on CNC milling machines and CNC lathes
Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards for precise measurement and quality assurance
Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings accurately
Mechanical knowledge related to tooling selection, setup, and maintenance
Understanding of manufacturing processes including machining techniques, tooling selection, and fixture design
Skilled in the use of precision measuring instruments such as bore gauges, calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM)
Strong math skills including geometry calculations necessary for accurate programming
Experience with lean manufacturing principles to improve process flow and reduce waste
