BlueFlag is seeking an ambitious, senior‑level Cloud Engineer to join our dynamic remote team. As a key player in our cloud infrastructure initiatives, you will architect, implement, and optimize cloud solutions for large enterprise environments, including a cutting‑edge data and analytics platform for the Department of Veterans Affairs.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure across multiple providers, with a primary focus on Azure technologies.
  • Deliver data‑lake‑based integration and analysis services in support of business intelligence, data science, and machine learning efforts.
  • Spearhead the implementation of infrastructure‑as‑code solutions using Terraform, pushing the boundaries of automation and efficiency.
  • Optimize cloud infrastructure for performance, scalability, and cost‑efficiency.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot cloud infrastructure issues.
  • Implement robust security measures to safeguard cloud‑based applications and data.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure seamless deployment and operation of cloud applications.
  • Lead architecture discussions with clients and team members, articulating complex solutions with clarity and confidence.
  • Contribute to business development activities by crafting innovative cloud engineering solutions for proposals.

Requirements

  • Expert‑level proficiency in Terraform and infrastructure‑as‑code concepts.
  • Extensive knowledge of Azure technologies.
  • Adherence to general cloud engineering best practices.
  • Strong knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or PowerShell for process automation.
  • Experience with DevOps practices and tools, especially CI/CD processes.
  • Experience with monitoring and troubleshooting cloud infrastructure.
  • Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in cloud engineering or related fields.
  • US Citizen: Must be a citizen of the United States.
  • Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain a public trust clearance. Must be eligible to work in the United States.

Desired

  • Software engineering experience, especially in web application development.
  • Strong background in cloud‑based networking, security, and data integration.
  • Knowledge of serverless computing.
  • Background in healthcare data management or experience with the Department of Veterans Affairs.
  • Experience with large‑scale data analysis systems, such as Databricks, Hadoop, Pig, Scala, Spark or MPP databases.
  • Experience working with Apache Parquet and/or Delta Lake formatted data.
  • Experience supporting MLOps pipelines.
