ResponsibilitiesIn this position, the Designer will work with a team of engineers for the pursuit, design and production of various civil engineering projects, including the following responsibilities:Communicates and coordinates with clients and consultants (e.g., architects and civil/ mechanical/ electrical/ plumbing engineers) to ensure clear understanding of project goals and expectationsInteracts with clients and team members regarding project informationReviews project specifications – including old drawings with site information and city block mapsDetermines and adheres to appropriate federal/state regulationsDesigns project layout and details (e.g., utility distribution, flood protection, parking, and traffic flow, etc.) using appropriate design softwareSpot-checks calculations and back-checks plan mark-ups and completed draftingGuides/assists other designers regarding issues such as codes, deflection criteria, and softwareCoordinates with city staff in obtaining permits and/or special requestsReviews project proposal and organizes project's work requirements and staffing needsDelegates project work to others (e.g., project team members, CAD operators, contractors)Reviews project status report against budget and scheduleQualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent5-7 minimum prior years of related experienceBasic drafting/CAD training a plusStrong visual design skillsExcellent written and verbal communicationStrong organizational skillsAbility to build partnerships and work collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives.Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environmentStrong client-service attitude with ability to multi-task and accomplish multiple prioritiesWalter P Moore is an equal employment opportunity employer, and provides equal employment opportunities (including offering competitive compensation and benefit packages) to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to any characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.OverviewWalter P Moore is an international company of engineers, architects, innovators, and creative people who solve some of the world's most complex structural and infrastructure challenges.
