Providing specialized technical expertise, the full-time remote Senior C++ Software Engineer will analyze and optimize the MRMS Hydromet/QPE codebase, advise on C++ coding strategies, and guide project staff in software development activities. Key responsibilities Analyze the existing MRMS Hydromet/QPE codebase and develop recommendations for the VCP-Agnostic version of MRMS Advise on and modify existing C++ code or contribute new code for the optimization of the MRMS software suite Provide expert technical guidance on software design, coding approaches, and technical risks for development activities Required qualifications BA/BS in a technical or business discipline 4+ years of professional and/or academic experience Proficiency in C++ programming; knowledge of Perl, Python, and Bash is preferred Experience with software development tools, particularly Git Ability to advise on software architecture and development risks
