About Chicony America
Chicony America, Inc. (CAI) is the U.S. engineering, development, and manufacturing arm of Chicony Electronics Co., Ltd., a global leader in imaging and input technology. From our Irvine, California headquarters, we design and build camera modules and vision systems that go into consumer electronics, medical devices, and robotics and automation products. You get the agility of a focused U.S. team with the engineering depth and manufacturing scale of a global parent company.
The Role
We are looking for a Business Development Manager to grow our customer base in North America. You will find and win new programs with OEMs, turning early design conversations into long-term production business. This is a hunter role with real ownership: you will work directly with our engineering, program management, and operations teams in the U.S. and Asia to take opportunities from first meeting to mass production.
What You Will Do
- Identify, qualify, and win new design-in opportunities for camera systems and imaging solutions across consumer electronics, telematic, enterprise security, medical devices, and robotics/automation.
- Build and manage a healthy pipeline, from prospecting and discovery through RFQ, quotation, and contract.
- Develop trusted relationships with engineering, sourcing, and executive stakeholders at OEM and ODM customers.
- Lead pricing and commercial negotiations, including NRE, volume pricing, and supply agreements.
- Partner with our engineering and program teams to translate customer requirements into winning technical proposals.
- Track market trends, competitors, and emerging applications, and share insights that shape our product roadmap.
- Represent Chicony at customer sites, trade shows, and industry events.
- Own your forecast and report on pipeline and revenue in our CRM.
What You Bring
- 5+ years of B2B business development or sales experience in electronics, components, or contract manufacturing (EMS/ODM).
- A proven record of winning new accounts and meeting or exceeding revenue targets.
- Understanding of the hardware product lifecycle: design-in, NPI, qualification, and mass production.
- Comfort discussing technical topics with engineers; a technical degree or background is a plus.
- Strong negotiation, presentation, and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate across time zones with global teams.
- Willingness to travel domestically and occasionally internationally (approximately 25–35%).
Nice to Have
- Experience selling camera modules, image sensors, optics, or embedded vision systems.
- Existing relationships with OEMs in medical devices, robotics, automotive, or smart devices.
- Familiarity with Salesforce or a similar CRM.
Plus a performance-based incentive tied to new business wins. Final base pay depends on experience, skills, and location.
- Medical and dental insurance
- Paid time off and paid holidays
- Travel and phone allowance
- Professional development and the opportunity to grow with a global company
