Retained & Exclusive Vacancy

Imperium Commodity Search is confidentially retained by a growing and independent US commodity brokerage with existing expertise and relationships across renewable fuels and environmental markets. Our client is seeking an experienced Biofuels Broker to expand its physical market coverage and build additional business across ethanol, biodiesel, renewable diesel, sustainable aviation fuel, feedstocks and related renewable fuel products.

The exact product remit will be shaped around the successful broker’s experience and relationships. The business is more interested in genuine market depth and a credible book within a defined area than in finding a generalist who claims to cover every renewable fuel product.

The firm has built a mature, professional environment where brokers are trusted to run their markets. Management provides the platform, support and wider relationships, but gives experienced individuals the ability to decide where to focus and how best to grow their business.

There is no unnecessary hierarchy or corporate theatre.

At the same time, the company places significant emphasis on teamwork. The incoming broker will work alongside professionals covering RINs, carbon and other environmental products, creating natural opportunities to share information, introduce clients and develop business across the wider renewable fuels value chain.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage a profitable physical biofuels brokerage book in your specialist product and geographical markets.
  • Broker transactions across products such as ethanol, biodiesel, renewable diesel, SAF, renewable feedstocks and other related renewable fuels.
  • Connect producers, refiners, blenders, distributors, trading houses, exporters, importers and end users.
  • Provide accurate pricing information, bids, offers, physical market colour and insight into supply, demand and regional flows.
  • Maintain and expand established client relationships while identifying new counterparties and commercial opportunities.
  • Develop domestic and/or export market activity according to your existing experience and network.
  • Collaborate with the RINs and environmental markets desks to identify relevant credit, compliance and cross-selling opportunities.
  • Monitor policy developments, feedstock economics, production changes, logistics and other factors affecting physical biofuels markets.
  • Work with operations and compliance to onboard clients and support the effective execution of physical transactions.
  • Contribute to future product and geographical expansion across the wider biofuels business.

Requirements:

  • Established experience in physical biofuels brokerage or a closely related commercial market role.
  • Relevant experience may include ethanol, biodiesel, renewable diesel, SAF, renewable feedstocks or other physical renewable fuel products.
  • A proven record of generating brokerage revenue and developing repeat business.
  • Strong relationships with producers, refiners, blenders, marketers, trading houses, distributors or end users.
  • Good understanding of physical pricing, specifications, logistics, regional trade flows and the commercial structure of your specialist market.
  • Familiarity with associated renewable fuel credits and compliance markets is beneficial but not required.
  • Transferable relationships or a credible active network, subject to existing contractual obligations.
  • Commercially self-directed and able to take responsibility for the development of a product or market.
  • Comfortable working autonomously while contributing to a collaborative multi-product team.
  • Strong communication skills, integrity and commitment to long-term client relationships.

This opportunity will suit a biofuels broker who wants more control over the direction of their business without losing the benefit of a supportive platform and adjacent market expertise. Experienced people are treated as experienced people, and good ideas can be pursued without negotiating multiple layers of internal politics.
