Senior Backend Software Engineer

Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Senior Backend Software Engineer with strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, AWS, and healthcare data standards. The role focuses on designing, developing, and scaling high-performance APIs and integration services that support healthcare platforms, with a specific focus on FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources) standards to enable seamless and secure data exchange across healthcare systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Build, test, and deploy robust backend services and microservices using Java and the Spring Boot framework.
• Implement and manage HL7 FHIR-based APIs and data pipelines to support healthcare interoperability and secure patient data exchange.
• Design, develop, document, and maintain RESTful APIs and event-driven architectures.
• Deploy, monitor, and optimize applications and cloud components on AWS, including ECS, Fargate, Lambda, S3, RDS, and API Gateway.
• Implement and maintain cloud infrastructure using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code practices.
• Ensure healthcare data transmission and storage follow applicable security and privacy requirements, including HIPAA.
• Work closely with product managers, clinical stakeholders, frontend developers, and data engineers to deliver scalable healthcare solutions.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
• Participate in code reviews and follow established CI/CD and software engineering practices.
• Support healthcare integration services and troubleshoot issues across APIs, backend services, cloud infrastructure, and data integrations.

Required Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in Java 11+ and the Spring Boot ecosystem, including Spring Cloud, Spring Data, and Spring Security.
• Hands-on experience designing, developing, and consuming APIs, including REST APIs.
• Proven experience with AWS cloud services and containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with AWS ECS and Fargate.
• Strong understanding of FHIR, including HL7 FHIR resources, profiles, and implementation guides.
• Experience working with healthcare integration engines and healthcare interoperability solutions.
• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and MySQL.
• Experience with NoSQL databases.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks such as JUnit and Mockito.
• Experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.
• Experience with GitLab and Git-based development workflows.
• Experience developing and integrating RESTful services; SOAP experience is also required.
• Strong understanding of healthcare data security and privacy requirements.
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
