Cube is hiring a Senior Back‑End Engineer to join our Engineering Team in the New York City, San Francisco, or Toronto areas. We are motivated by supporting people in typically unsung roles like Finance and are built on the mission to help every company hit their numbers.
Tech Stack
- Front‑end: JavaScript/TypeScript with React/GraphQL
- Back‑end: Python with Django
- Infrastructure: AWS and the well‑architected framework
- Processes: automation, experimentation, observability and security
Ramp Plan
Day30
- Introduction and onboarding; overview of Cube software and key features.
- Code review and technical onboarding; learn our testing framework and best practices.
- Active participation in agile and Scrum practices; collaborate closely with peers.
Day60
- Collaboration and integration; foster open communication and respect for all input.
- Technical excellence and continuous improvement; drive software improvements.
- Mentoring and knowledge sharing; support team growth.
Day90
- Technical strategy; provide feedback that aligns with organizational goals.
- Continuous improvement and product expertise; actively seek growth and drive innovation.
What you’ll be doing
- Consistently write production‑ready code that is easily testable, understood by others, and handles edge cases.
- Own observability and monitoring for your team’s domain and use data to suggest improvements.
- Offer honest, accurate critique and ensure feedback is used for growth.
- Nurture an environment of continuous growth with motivation, mentorship, and learning opportunities.
- Take ownership of practices and processes and focus on their constant improvement.
- Foster a culture of goal setting and a psychologically safe environment.
Salary Range
Base salary: $144,000 – $170,000 USD (NY office). Canadian compensation is discussed separately with recruiters.

Requirements
- Exceptional communication skills; effective with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Experience creating and maintaining high‑performing software in a remote‑first environment.
- Extensive experience with Python, Django, MySQL, AWS.
- Proven track record of delivering well‑designed, well‑tested, and performant software solutions within an agile environment.
