Our client is a well-established, publicly traded commercial bank headquartered in Chicago, with approximately $9.9 billion in assets and more than 40 branch locations throughout the Chicago and Milwaukee markets. The organization has earned multiple workplace awards and is recognized for its collaborative culture and commitment to employee development.

They are seeking an Internal Audit Senior to join their growing Internal Audit team. This individual will execute risk-based audits across various areas of the bank, including financial, operational, compliance, and technology functions. This is an excellent opportunity to gain broad exposure across the organization, partner with business leadership, and contribute to the continued development of the audit function.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and execute end-to-end audit engagements, including planning, walkthroughs, fieldwork, reporting, and follow-up.
• Perform risk-based testing of internal controls across financial, operational, compliance, and IT functions, including ICFR testing.
• Identify control gaps, process inefficiencies, and emerging risks while developing actionable recommendations.
• Prepare clear audit findings and reports and monitor remediation efforts.
• Assist with annual audit planning and risk assessments.
• Partner with business leaders, Risk, and Compliance teams to strengthen internal controls.
• Leverage AI and advanced analytics to improve audit processes.
• Mentor and review the work of junior auditors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3–4+ years of external or internal audit experience, ideally within financial services.
• Strong knowledge of internal controls, risk assessments, and audit methodologies.
• Experience with walkthroughs, control testing, and audit documentation.
• Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills.
• CPA, CIA, CAMS, or CISA preferred.
• Banking experience and familiarity with banking regulations are a plus.
