Audit Senior or Supervisor | Deerfield, IL
Public Accounting experience essential
Some audit roles ask you to specialise so much that everything else starts to fall away.
Here, your employee benefit plan audit experience matters, but you’ll also work with privately held businesses across a range of industries. If you enjoy both, you can keep building your experience without having to choose one over the other.
You’ll join a Chicagoland CPA firm of around 150 people. It’s grown steadily, without private equity, and the partners are still closely involved in the work. You’ll have direct access to them, as well as the chance to build your own relationships with clients.
The work covers the full engagement, from planning and reviewing work papers through to financial statements. You’ll guide junior staff, keep things moving and have a say when you spot something that needs attention. There’s also the opportunity to get involved in compilations, reviews and business tax returns as part of client engagements.
There’s room to grow here without waiting for someone else to leave first. If you’re already taking on Supervisor level responsibility, they’ll recognise that. Equally, if you’re a Senior who wants to get there, you’ll have people around you to help you develop.
They have a dedicated mentor programme and your development is very important to them. They have lots of people who have progressed from this level into senior leadership.
Busy season is typically around 55 hours. There’s a smaller push in the fall, but the rest of the year is closer to the high 30s. The firm also offers hybrid working and summer Fridays.
You’ll need at least three years of public accounting audit experience, including both employee benefit plans and privately held, for profit businesses. A CPA or EA or someone actively working towards it would be ideal.
Interested? Not ready with a resume? Or want a bit more information before applying? No problem. You can still apply and ask Imogen. She’ll be happy to tell you more about the firm, the job and the prospects before you commit further.
Imogen Talbot-Slack is a Recruiter with Distinct Recruitment. She’s been recruiting in finance for over 9 years, with a focus on public accounting firms across Illinois and Indiana. She’s not a career salesperson she’s built her reputation by actually listening to what candidates want, whether that’s better hours, a path to partner, or simply a firm where they’ll enjoy going to work.
Think you only have 87% of the required experience? Perfect - apply anyway. The CPA firms we partner with want diverse, interesting people, not corporate clones stamped from the same tedious mould.
