Senior Associate Scientist, Chemistry

Job Responsibilities:

• Execute multi-step synthetic routes; optimize reaction conditions; isolate and characterize organic compounds (chromatography, NMR, MS, IR spectroscopy).
• Collaborate with scientists across diverse disciplines.
• Document research activities and present findings clearly.
• Execute experimental plans, troubleshoot synthetic challenges, and optimize lead compounds.

Education & Experience (Required):

• BS or MS in Chemistry with strong expertise in synthetic organic and medicinal chemistry.
• 3+ years experience (BS) or 2+ years (MS) in a non-academic synthetic chemistry laboratory.

Skills & Qualifications (Required/Preferred):

• Strong small-molecule synthesis skills; lab techniques and safety knowledge; experience synthesizing peptides is a plus.
• Proficiency in synthesis, purification, troubleshooting and characterization (e.g., LCMS, HPLC, NMR).
• Familiarity with ChemDraw, SciFinder, and Reaxys.
• Adaptable, self-motivated; strong interpersonal skills; effective in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Strong documentation and presentation skills (lab notebook, reports, presentations).
• Uses AI tools to enhance productivity/quality.

Compensation & Benefits (as stated):

• San Diego, CA: $95,505-$115,730; additional incentive cash/stock may be available.
