Ballast Rock is a Charleston, South Carolina-based alternative investment manager overseeing funds across real estate, private credit, and venture capital, with a consistent emphasis on diversification and downside risk mitigation. The firm's leadership team draws on Wall Street risk management backgrounds and long-standing regional relationships to source, underwrite, and manage its investment strategies.


Within this platform, the Ballast Rock RE Private Credit Fund invests capital into late-stage, commercial-scale solar and other renewable project developments. The strategy targets an underserved segment of the market and occupies a priority position in the project capital stack. RE Private Credit Fund I is close to being fully deployed, with the Fund II capital raise currently in progress.


POSITION SUMMARY


This position will play a central role in underwriting, structuring, and managing debt investments into renewable energy infrastructure assets, while also supporting sell-side M&A engagements on an as-needed basis. This is a highly cross-functional role suited to a candidate who can move fluidly between financial modeling, investment committee preparation, transaction management, and due diligence.


Position reports directly to the Managing Director and Fund Manager for the Renewables Private Credit strategy, with regular exposure to the firm's broader renewable energy M&A advisory work.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Prepare and review financial models for renewable energy infrastructure assets.

  • Conduct model review and analysis to support underwriting decisions and portfolio monitoring.

  • Prepare investment committee materials for renewable energy transactions.

  • Prepare marketing materials in support of M&A sell-side engagements.

  • Manage and quarterback asset buy-side and/or sell-side transactions as appropriate, coordinating internal and external stakeholders.

  • Conduct data room review and organization in support of live transactions.

  • Lead and support transaction due diligence across financial, legal, and technical work streams.

  • Manage junior analysts on all tasks as appropriate.


QUALIFICATIONS



  • 3-5 years of experience in renewables, renewable energy finance, banking, renewable energy development, or a similar field

  • Demonstrated experience building and reviewing financial models for infrastructure or energy assets

  • Familiarity with debt investment structures and/or M&A transaction processes

  • Strong analytical, written, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple transactions concurrently

  • Comfort operating independently while reporting into senior leadership
