The Applied Statistician as a Professional Grade position.Applied Statistician - Administrative/Business Candidates shall work to support requirements for Technical General Support Services (GSSC) related to NAICS: - Environmental Consulting Services, NAICS: - Scientific and Technical Consulting Services - Energy, and NAICS: - Professional Scientific Technical Consulting Services andPosition responsibilities participation on multi-disciplinary technical teams that support fate and transport analyses input and assumptions development and final documentation development, research and development of background information to support regulatory documentation, drafting of technical documents, and general technical support for low level waste disposal and closure activities and projects.General responsibilities include:Develop statistically based input parameters from experimental or literature data for both probabilistic and deterministic modeling.Develop or apply mathematical or statistical theory and methods to collect, organize, interpret, and summarize numerical data to provide usable information.Prepare data for processing by organizing information, checking for any inaccuracies, and adjusting and weighting the raw data.Identifying various factors in the data that may affect the organization on a long term basas a nd providing steps towards minimizing the risk of such factors.Ensure that all project team, DOE, and management review comments are properly dispositioned and incorporated as applicable.Participate in comment resolution meetings with DOE, NRC, EPA and SCDHEC.Provide general technical support for project teams and management.The Applied Statistician - Administrative/Business shall have consecutive employment in a position with comparable responsibilities within the past five (5) years, Must be able to use a computer to communicate via email; and proficient in Microsoft Office Products (Word/Excel/PowerPoint) and related tools and technology required for the position.Work products shall be thorough, accurate, appropriately documented, and comply with established criteria. All employees, in the performance of their respective responsibilities, shall conduct themselves in the highest possible standards of ethical and business conduct.
The candidate shall ensure that duties are performed in a competent and professional manner that meets milestones/delivery schedules as outlined.Requisite work experience and technical skills to fulfill the roles and responsibilities of the Applied Statisticians working and performing tasks in the Energy Industry (Oil and Gas / Power and Utilities / Nuclear Energy)MS degree in applicable science or engineering discipline with 2 years of previous applied statistics in environmental experience; orBS degree in applicable science or engineering discipline with 5 years of previous applied statistics environmental experience.Experienced in applying statistics to large industrial work tasks,Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.Logical thinking and problem solving skills,Ability to perform and interpret simple data analysis,Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team,Experience with statistical analysis software (SAS, etc.), EXCEL, GOLDSIM, ACCESS, and PORFLOW databases are all desirable.Experience with waste disposal or closure activities at Department of Energy facilities is desirable Some flexibility as a vailable. A four-day 40-hour work week is scheduled. The applicant will be expected to work Monday through Thursday from 6:45-5:15.
