About the Role

This role builds production AI systems that solve real business problems for our client, a global crypto exchange who are building its US presence.

This is not a research seat: you ship. You'll design and deploy LLM-powered applications, agentic workflows, and AI tooling that directly impacts how the business operates, from customer-facing products to internal developer tooling to security automation.

What problem does this role solve? The business is embedding AI across its entire operation. This person builds the AI application layer that makes that possible: real systems in production, not demos. The gap between "we tried an LLM" and "AI is core infrastructure" is an Applied AI Engineer who ships.

Duties

  • Design and ship production LLM-powered applications: multi-agent systems, RAG pipelines, tool-calling workflows, and task automation
  • Build agentic engineering frameworks using AI coding agents (Claude Code, Cursor) to dramatically accelerate internal tool development
  • Evaluate, integrate, and optimise frontier models (GPT-4o, Claude, Gemini) and open-source alternatives for task performance and cost trade-offs
  • Build AI evaluation frameworks: systematic benchmarking, regression detection, and quality gates for AI systems in production
  • Partner with product, security, and engineering teams to identify high-impact AI application opportunities and execute on them
  • Mentor engineers on AI-assisted development best practices and help establish team norms for agentic engineering

Target Candidates

  • 5+ years of software engineering, with 2+ years hands-on shipping LLM applications in production — not just prototypes or research
  • Deep expertise in prompt engineering, RAG architectures, and agent frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex, AutoGen, or custom-built)
  • Strong Python engineer, able to build scalable, maintainable AI application backends
  • Proficient with AI coding agents (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) as a daily engineering force multiplier
  • Can independently scope, build, and ship AI-powered systems end to end
  • Bonus: applied AI experience in security, fintech, or crypto; fine-tuning experience (LoRA/QLoRA, RLHF); published work or open-source AI projects; background at AI-first companies or AI platform teams
  • Must be a US Citizen or Green Card Holder.
