Senior Appian Developer – Business Process Automation

Our client, a global investment management firm, is seeking an experienced Senior Appian Developer to build and expand its enterprise workflow and business process automation platform.
This is a senior, hands-on individual contributor position. You will develop applications directly in Appian while partnering with business stakeholders across areas such as investment operations, risk, compliance, legal, finance, and tax.
This is not a general RPA, Power Platform, or project-management position. Candidates must have meaningful hands-on Appian development experience.
What You’ll Do
- Design, build, test, and support enterprise applications using Appian
- Develop SAIL interfaces, process models, record types, expression rules, reports, forms, and integrations
- Meet directly with business stakeholders to understand processes and translate them into technical solutions
- Convert manual, spreadsheet-based, and email-driven processes into scalable workflow applications
- Build integrations with enterprise systems and data sources using REST/SOAP APIs
- Develop approval workflows, case-management solutions, notifications, escalations, and SLA monitoring
- Troubleshoot and enhance existing Appian applications
- Establish reusable development patterns and support the continued growth of the Appian environment
Required Experience
- 6+ years of enterprise application or workflow-development experience
- Strong recent, hands-on Appian development experience
- Experience building Appian SAIL interfaces, process models, records, expression rules, and integrations
- Experience working directly with business stakeholders to gather requirements and design solutions
- Understanding of workflow design, case management, data modeling, application security, and APIs
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work onsite in Midtown Manhattan Monday through Thursday
Strongly Preferred
- Experience within financial services, investment management, asset management, banking, private equity, or capital markets
- Familiarity with workflows involving risk, compliance, legal, tax, finance, investor onboarding, or investment operations
- Appian Senior Developer or Lead Developer certification
- SQL and enterprise integration experience
- Exposure to Microsoft Power Platform, Workato, UiPath, SharePoint, or AI-enabled workflow tools
