Senior Actuarial AnalystColumbus, Ohio, United StatesAbout the Job Senior Actuarial AnalystJob SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Sr. Actuarial Analyst to join our team, focusing on risk monitoring, profitability analysis, and other key actuarial functions. This role involves conducting in-depth reviews of insurance product profitability, assessing portfolio risk, and working closely with various teams to support sound underwriting and pricing decisions.
The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technical actuarial skills, analytical expertise, and experience within the general insurance industry, particularly in Property & Casualty (P&C).Key ResponsibilitiesData extraction and preparation for pricing studies and analysisProvide pricing guidance and consulting services to different data, infrastructure and IT teamHelp Data team in developing data mart and recommending data elements to be included for use case enablement – Pricing, Rating, Filing etc.Present actionable insights, recommendations and findings to Actuaries and Data team (leadership)Develop project plan, execute and help in delivery excellenceConduct market and competitor research esp. filing materialSupport filing activities including indications, base rate changes, rate monitoring, dislocations etc.Prepare filing exhibits or regulatory requirement exhibitsDevelop internal QC processes to ensure filing accuracy and qualityTrain and upskill team members in new rating and filing tools & techniquesIdentify process enhancements opportunities and propose automation-based solutionsApply actuarial pricing techniques of exposure and experience rating based on data quality and availabilityUnderstand and incorporate product changes, rating factors and other inputs to develop new rates or revise existing ratesCoordinate with product owners to understand pricing requirements and timelinesSupport actuarial data processing involving loss development, trend analysis and IBNR allocationSupport data extraction, analysis and transformation to produce final datasets for downstream analysisApply advanced statistical techniques like GLMs, XGBoost, Lasso etc. to build predictive modelsUnderstand and incorporate external factors like inflation, CAT impact etc.
to produce comprehensive ratesCross-Functional Collaboration:Partner with underwriting, finance, and data analytics teams to align on product goals and refine risk management strategies.Present findings to senior leadership, translating complex actuarial concepts into actionable insights.QualificationsBachelors degree in actuarial science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field; completion of actuarial exams with ASA or FSA designation preferred.Extensive experience in P&C Actuarial Pricing – LC Modeling, Rate revisions, indications, Rate monitoring etc.Experience working with large data – Policy, claims, external dataProven expertise in risk assessment, monitoring, and profitability review.Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with proficiency in actuarial modeling software (e.g., R, SAS, Python) and Excel.Working experience with insurance regulations, rate filings, and compliance requirements.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
