We’re hiring a Senior Acoustical Engineer/Consultant to join our Hawaii office in Kailua, on the island of O‘ahu. This is an opportunity for an experienced, client-focused consultant to lead technical work, manage multiple projects at once, and grow toward management within a firm known for acoustical engineering, theatre, and audio-video consulting—while enjoying near-perfect weather and a true island lifestyle. What You’ll Do
- Provide senior-level acoustical consulting and design services across multiple concurrent projects
- Perform field measurements and analysis for room acoustics and acoustical performance
- Develop recommendations for:
- Room acoustics
- Airborne and structure-borne sound insulation
- HVAC noise and vibration control
- Conduct environmental noise assessments, including development of practical noise-mitigation recommendations
- Produce and review design documents and technical deliverables
- Coordinate acoustical design details with architects, engineers, theatre consultants, and other project team members
- Establish acoustical criteria for a variety of facility types
- Lead and support client communication, including site visits, expectations, and deliverable coordination
- Contribute to proposal development for new work
- Use AutoCAD and/or Revit (working knowledge preferred) and standard acoustical test/measurement tools
- Bring strong written and verbal communication skills to ensure accuracy, quality, and efficiency in all deliverables
What We’re Looking For
- BS or MS in engineering or a closely related field with acoustics focus
- Minimum 5+ years of acoustical consulting experience (senior-level experience preferred)
- Demonstrated experience with sound level instrumentation and measurement practices
- Strong skills in writing, documentation, and client-facing communication
- Outgoing, relationship-oriented style with the drive to grow and expand our client base through direct outreach, networking, and strong service
- Proactive, self-motivated approach with a willingness to learn and mentor others
- Some travel expected, primarily inter-island
