Senior Accountant (Construction Company)

Accounting ManagerAtlantic Heating and Cooling Service, Inc. is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee all accounting, payroll, financial, and administrative operations of the company. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing payroll and cash flow, ensuring compliance, and supporting executive decision-making.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of independently managing the company's financial infrastructure while working closely with ownership and external partners.Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting, Payroll & Financial ManagementOpen, review, and distribute all incoming mail related to accounting and financeProcess and pay all company bills and vendor invoicesProcess full-cycle payroll, including hourly and salaried employeesEnsure payroll accuracy, deductions, garnishments, benefits, and complianceManage payroll tax filings and coordinate with CPA as neededManage bank deposits and perform regular bank reconciliationsPrepare and maintain financial statements and departmental cost breakdownsRecord journal entries and maintain general ledger accuracyManage cash flow forecasting and reportingTrack depreciation schedules and fixed assetsPrepare supporting schedules for auditsMaintain detailed spreadsheets and financial reportsWork closely with the company CPA on month-end, year-end, and tax mattersTax & CompliancePrepare and file Heavy Use Tax (HVUT) reportsManage business licenses and renewalsComplete personal property tax returnsPrepare and file 1099sSupport audits and regulatory inquiriesMaintain OSHA reports and compliance documentationVendor, Banking & Credit ManagementMaintain relationships with vendors and service providersHandle all disputes related to billing, vendors, or collectionsManage company credit cards and reconcile statementsOversee collections and accounts receivable follow-upManage petty cashAdministrative & Operational OversightMaintain truck and equipment financial recordsManage insurance policies and renewalsTrack and manage rents and lease obligationsOversee reimbursements and expense reportingManage uniform accounts and related vendorsOversee company IT coordination and data backup processesManage telecommunications accountsHuman Resources SupportAdminister payroll-related HR functionsTrack employee vacation, PTO, and attendance recordsSupport onboarding, employee documentation, and compliance as neededCoordinate with management on employee-related financial mattersQualificationsProven experience as an Accounting Manager, Payroll Manager, or Senior AccountantStrong knowledge of full-cycle payroll and payroll tax complianceStrong understanding of full-cycle accounting and financial reportingExperience working with CPAs, audits, and compliance requirementsExcellent organizational and time-management skillsHigh attention to detail and confidentialityProficiency in accounting software and advanced spreadsheet use (Excel/Sheets)Experience in construction, utilities, or service-based industries preferredBenefitsHealth and Dental Insurance401(k) Retirement PlanPaid Vacation TimePaid Sick Leave
