A growing real estate development organization is seeking a Senior Accountant to support a portfolio of large-scale residential, mixed-use, and commercial development projects. This position will play a key role in the accounting and financial reporting process for active construction and development initiatives throughout South Florida.
The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting foundation, experience with development and/or construction accounting, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
Responsibilities
- Review and analyze general ledger activity and financial statements
- Prepare accruals, adjusting journal entries, and account reconciliations in accordance with GAAP
- Prepare detailed monthly, quarterly, and year-end workpapers
- Prepare and manage construction loan requisitions
- Review, code, and process contractor and vendor invoices
- Monitor project budgets and job cost activity
- Coordinate invoice approvals and oversee vendor payments
- Assist with annual audit processes and support external auditors
- Provide timely financial information to lenders, ownership groups, and business partners
- Ensure job cost transactions are accurately recorded and reported
- Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
- 3+ years of accounting experience
- Public accounting experience highly preferred
- CPA or CPA-track candidates are encouraged to apply
- Development, construction, or real estate accounting experience is strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
- Advanced Excel skills
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with ERP and reporting systems is a plus
