Senior Accountant in Charlotte, NC

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join a growing accounting team. This role will be responsible for key areas of the month-end close, with particular emphasis on ASC 606 revenue recognition. The ideal candidate is technically strong, comfortable working in a complex accounting environment, and able to analyze transactions from both an operational and GAAP perspective.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage key components of the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process
• Perform revenue recognition accounting in accordance with ASC 606, including reviewing customer contracts and determining appropriate recognition treatment
• Prepare and maintain revenue schedules, journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting documentation
• Partner with operational and commercial teams to ensure revenue transactions are recorded accurately
• Manage accounting related to inventory, including inventory reconciliations, reserves, adjustments, and valuation
• Analyze inventory activity and investigate discrepancies between the general ledger and inventory records
• Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations and supporting schedules
• Record and review journal entries, accruals, and other monthly accounting activity
• Perform variance and account analysis and explain significant fluctuations
• Assist with preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements
• Support internal and external audit requests
• Maintain appropriate documentation and internal controls
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, and close efficiency

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Approximately 4+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP
• Hands-on experience with ASC 606 / revenue recognition required
• Strong understanding of month-end close, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting
• Advanced Excel skills, including experience working with large or complex data sets
• ERP system experience required
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to research accounting issues and communicate conclusions clearly
• CPA or CPA-track experience is a plus
• Experience within a manufacturing, distribution, consumer products, or other inventory-based environment is highly preferred
