MillerMusmar CPAs is a regional public accounting firm with approximately 30 professionals providing outsourced tax, audit, and accounting services to small and mid-sized client organizations nationwide.

We serve a diverse client base, including government contractors, nonprofit organizations, and closely held businesses, and emphasize high-quality service, practical solutions, and sustainable work-life balance. We also specialize in healthcare and international client base services.We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to support our outsourced accounting services practice. This role is firmly rooted in client-facing public accounting and is ideal for professionals who have spent multiple years in a client-facing public or outsourced accounting environment.

Success in this role requires deep experience in full-cycle accounting, both the skill and passion in client communication and problem-solving, and the ability to manage multiple clients with varying service levels (monthly, quarterly, and annual).Experience with government contractors and/or nonprofit organizations is highly valued, but we are open to candidates with strong outsourced accounting or public accounting backgrounds who are eager to deepen their exposure to these areas.The Senior Accountant will work closely with Managers and Partners and will serve as a primary point of contact for assigned clients.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform full-cycle accounting services for assigned clients, including:Journal entries, general ledger maintenance, and account reconciliationsMonth-end and quarter-end close processesPreparation of internal-use financial statementsPrepare and maintain high-quality workpapers and supporting schedules in accordance with public accounting and firm standardsIdentify discrepancies, cutoff issues, and posting errors and propose appropriate resolutionsSupport accounting for government contractors, including:Understanding indirect cost structures and labor allocationsAssisting with timekeeping, invoicing, and compliance-related reportingAdvise on allowability of expenses under relevant FAR & CAS principlesSupport client DCAA complianceSupport nonprofit clients, including:Fund accounting conceptsGrant tracking and restricted/unrestricted activityAssist with compliance-related filings and projects such as:1099 preparationPersonal property tax, BPOL, or similar filings (as applicable)Audit support or special projectsBusiness registrationsServe as day-to-day contact for assigned clientsCommunicate professionally and clearly with clients regarding:Accounting questionsDocument requestsTiming and deliverablesParticipate in and, over time, lead routine client calls related to accounting mattersBuild and maintain trusted, long-term client relationshipsWork collaboratively with Managers and Partners on workload planning and client deliverablesProvide feedback to improve internal templates, processes, and documentationAssist in training or mentoring junior staff, as neededQualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting or related field4–7 years of professional experience in public accounting or outsourced accountingStrong understanding of full-cycle accounting and financial statement preparationExperience working with multiple clients and managing competing deadlinesProficiency with common accounting platforms (e.g., QuickBooks Online/Desktop; experience with Unanet, Procas, or similar systems is a plus)Strong written and verbal communication skills with clients and internal stakeholdersExperience with government contractors and/or nonprofit organizationsFamiliarity with FAR Part 31, indirect cost concepts, or grant accountingStrong understanding of accounting for payroll transactionsExperience with partnership accountingCPA or CPA-eligible statusExperience working in a remote or hybrid public accounting environmentPhysical RequirementsProlonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.This is a hybrid remote position, full-time, the corporate office hours 8am-5 pm EST
