Senior Accountant

Senior AccountantThe Senior Accountant will serve as key member of the Controllership organization within the Media Group. The Media Group includes the best brands in the industry, including the NBC broadcast network, Peacock, and Bravo. This role provides an outstanding opportunity to learn about the entertainment television and streaming businesses and be a change agent.

The position will report to the Senior Manager, Accounting, and will work closely with the Media Group finance team and collaborate with Controllership across the NBCUniversal portfolio.This role will support standardizing existing processes, identifying business process efficiencies, implementing best practices and more. This position will need to work as a member of a cohesive team that can successfully strive to meet tight deadlines and respond quickly to changes in the business environment.Responsibilities:Assist with month-end and quarter-end accounting close to ensure deadlines are met and all items are recorded in accordance with GAAPPrepare monthly journal entries timely and accuratelyPrepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliations in account reconciliation tool, ensuring adherence to company-policySupport the Media Group finance team in all planning processes, including long-range planning, annual budgets and operational reviewsSupport business process by partnering with other departments, including but not limited to FP&A, accounts payable, treasury, tax, and legalSupport ad hoc data requests, deliverables and other controllership deadlinesContinually improve business processes through automation, thoughtful analysis and researching or benchmarking best practices inside and outside of the companyAssist with monthly and quarterly Balance Sheet variance analysisAssist process owners in documentation of SOX controlsParticipate in corporate driven initiatives and process change. In the next year, this will include significant emphasis on NBCU's transition to the SAP S/4 platformBasic Requirements:Bachelor's degree in accounting2+ years of accounting experience; public accounting experience preferredCPA license or on trackAdvanced Microsoft Excel skillsDesired Characteristics:Foundational knowledge of GAAP and internal control over financial reportingProven ability to work independently, execute well, and thrive in a fast-paced environmentDetail oriented and a quick learnerAbility to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writingAbility to think critically and research ad hoc accounting issuesProblem solving and analytical skills; ability to dig into problems and drive resolutionsSolid work ethic, positive attitude and a team-playerThis position currently has a hybrid schedule, which requires contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week.
