Senior Accountant

LHH Recruitment Solutions is hiring a Senior Accountant - Treasury for a growing organization seeking an experienced accounting professional to serve as the day-to-day lead for commercial card and virtual card accounting operations. This role will be responsible for transaction and settlement reconciliations, exception management, month-end close support, rebate analysis, financial reporting, and maintaining strong internal controls across treasury and payment processes.

*****This is a hybrid role- Must live commutable to Melville, NY.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations of commercial card and virtual card activity, including deployments, authorizations, settlements, supplier payments, provider statements, and general ledger balances.
• Review transaction batches and system interfaces to identify duplicate records, rejected transactions, unmatched items, currency variances, and processing exceptions.
• Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, balance sheet reconciliations, rebate schedules, and month-end close workpapers.
• Manage open transaction and exception aging, assign follow-up actions, document root causes, and escalate significant issues as necessary.
• Partner with payment providers, banks, suppliers, treasury, accounting, operations, and technology teams to investigate and resolve payment and data discrepancies.
• Monitor funding requirements and communicate anticipated cash needs and payment obligations to treasury leadership.
• Perform analytical reviews of transaction activity, card spend, rebates, foreign currency impacts, declines, and operational trends.
• Support chargebacks, disputes, fraud investigations, refunds, supplier non-acceptance issues, and payment recovery efforts.
• Maintain and enhance standard operating procedures, reconciliations, control documentation, process checklists, and audit-ready support files.
• Participate in testing of system enhancements, automation initiatives, reporting improvements, and new payment products.
• Provide training, guidance, and quality review support to junior team members.
• Prepare reporting and recommendations for management regarding operational risks, performance trends, and process improvement opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 4+ years of accounting, treasury, banking, card operations, payment processing, or related experience.
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
• Advanced Excel skills with experience analyzing large transaction files and complex financial data.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and external vendors.
• Proven ability to manage deadlines, investigate exceptions independently, and drive issues through resolution.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Oracle NetSuite or a similar ERP platform.
• Knowledge of commercial card and virtual payment platforms such as Conferma, WEX, Visa, Mastercard, or American Express products.
• Experience within treasury, travel, hospitality, airline, fintech, supplier payments, or other high-volume transactional environments.
• Experience working with foreign currency transactions and international payment activity.
