Senior AccountantBlue Sky Utility is a fast-growing renewable energy platform developing and operating utility-scale solar assets across the U.S. We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join our finance team. This role is responsible for managing core accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting the organization's financial health through sound analysis, budgeting, and compliance practices.This is a HYBRID role in Fort Lauderdale, FLKey ResponsibilitiesFinancial Reporting & AnalysisPrepare and review financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow) in accordance with accounting standardsAnalyze financial results, identify variances from budget or prior periods, and communicate findings to leadershipMonitor and report on departmental and company-wide expenditures against approved budgetsSupport month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliationsBudgeting & ForecastingSupport the annual budgeting process and coordinate input from department headsPrepare rolling forecasts and scenario analyses to support strategic decision-makingPartner with FP&A and business unit leaders on financial planning and capital allocationTrack actuals versus forecast and provide timely variance commentaryGeneral Ledger & OperationsMaintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness across all accountsReview and approve invoices, expense reports, and vendor payments in accordance with company policyOversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as neededManage fixed asset schedules, depreciation, and capitalization policiesSupport treasury operations including cash management and bank reconciliationsControls & ComplianceEnsure all accounting activities are performed in compliance with accounting standards and internal policiesSupport internal and external audit requests, including preparation of schedules and supporting documentationMaintain and strengthen internal controls over financial reportingEnsure timely and accurate tax filings in coordination with external advisors (sales tax, property tax, etc.)Identify control gaps and recommend process improvements to mitigate financial riskCross-Functional CollaborationPartner with operations, HR, back office, and other business units to provide financial guidance and supportAssist in evaluating the financial impact of business decisions, contracts, and new initiativesSupport lender, investor, and board reporting requirements as neededMentor junior accounting staff and support knowledge-sharing across the team
