Position Summary
The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting the organization's accounting and financial reporting functions through accurate month-end close activities, account reconciliations, financial statement preparation, and compliance with U.S. GAAP. This role plays an integral part in maintaining the integrity of financial data, supporting audits, and ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting within a multi-entity environment.
The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented accounting professional with strong technical accounting knowledge, excellent analytical skills, and experience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, including preparation of journal entries, accruals, and supporting schedules.
- Prepare and review account reconciliations and general ledger reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.
- Maintain the general ledger and support the accurate recording of financial transactions.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements and management reports in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
- Support the compilation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages.
- Prepare and reconcile intercompany transactions and balances across multiple entities.
- Research, investigate, and resolve accounting discrepancies and account variances.
- Assist with financial audits by preparing schedules, providing supporting documentation, and responding to auditor requests.
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and financial reporting requirements.
- Support process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and reporting capabilities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support financial reporting and accounting-related projects.
- Assist with ad hoc analyses, reporting requests, and special projects as needed.
Qualifications
Required
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and preparing consolidated financial statements.
- Experience leading/owning month-end close processes.
- Experience with multi-entity environments and intercompany accounting eliminations.
- Experience preparing and posting journal entries and accruals.
- Experience performing account reconciliations and general ledger reconciliations.
- Experience preparing and compiling financial statements.
- Experience supporting internal and external financial audits.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
- CPA license or active pursuit of CPA.
- Public accounting experience.
- Experience working with ERP or enterprise accounting systems.
- Experience supporting process improvement and automation initiatives.
