We seek professionals dedicated to providing excellent customer service, developing fruitful partnerships in the community, and creating environments aligned with our mission.This position performs general accounting tasks such as monthly recurring journal entries, investment accounting, grant accounting, bank reconciliations, account reconciliations and analyses, and all other assigned special projects. Performs all work within established accounting guidelines and in accordance with library policy.
This position reports to the AVP of Finance, Controller.This is a full-time, non-union, exempt position. The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $100,000.ResponsibilitiesPrepare monthly, quarterly and annual grant financial reports for submission to private foundations, government agencies and other grantors.Serve as the primary point of contact for grant accounting and reporting, partnering with inter departmental staff on budget monitoring and financial inquiriesPrepare private and government grants revenues and expense reconciliations and monthly revenue recognition journals.Monitor grant spending against approved budgets by preparing monthly/quarterly grant income and expenditure reports for discussion with relevant program staff.Record monthly miscellaneous income and reconcile Branch bank accountsReconcile all ABC Pharos credit card and cash transactions, including merchant statements, deposits, kiosk activity, and cash collection to general ledgerPrepare schedules for the annual financial audit and the IRS Form 990e.g. Accounts Payable, Accrued expenses, Investments, Contributed revenues and expenses, etal.Perform other related duties as assigned by managementSupporting Duties and ResponsibilitiesPrepare and post monthly journal entries in accordance with established accounting policies, and month end closing scheduled deadlineReview Development contributions and revenues activity on a monthly basis; collaborate with Foundation staff to prepare quarterly reconciliation schedule. Prepares Development-related journal entries and perform monthly reconciliation between general ledger financial system and Development database (Raisers Edge).Maintain monthly investment schedules, prepare related journal entries, reconcile brokerage statements to the general ledger, and compile annual investment summaries of investment activity and performance.Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for operating and Payroll accounts and post the monthly cash ledgerMaintain updated schedule of Development pledge receivables due from private donors.Maintain schedules for prepaid insurance and other prepaid expenses, and prepare related monthly entriesPrepare, update, and reconcile all assigned monthly balance sheet schedules, including payroll and accrualsManage fixed asset accounting, including recording additions, retirements, and transfers.
Calculating and posting depreciation and amortization. Reconciling accumulated depreciation and related expense accounts to the general ledger; and maintaining fixed asset schedules.QualificationsBachelor's Degree from an accredited institution of higher education in Finance or Accounting.A minimum of five years of Government/fund accounting experienceThorough knowledge of accounting theory, concepts and practices applicable to accounting requirements of non-profit agencies.Strong mathematical and analytical skills for monitoring accounting records and resolving accounting problems.Must display team spirit, attention to detail, ability to work well with others, be goal oriented, and be able to follow through on projects from initiation to completionMust demonstrate the ability to establish work priorities and apply financial accounting principles and methods to daily tasks.Computer literate with knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software applications.
